We’re excited to welcome 𝘁𝘄𝗼 great Chicago artists to Solid Brass. What better way to welcome both bands than with a Limited Edition 7” appetizer to give you a taste of each.

𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 (Doom Flower) is the musical project of Chicago-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Jess Price. With band members Matt Lemke (Wedding Dress), Pete Croke (Brokeback, Exit Verse), and Areif Sless-Kitain (Brokeback, Regulator Watts, The Eternals) they blend atmospheric guitars with minimalist and occasional trip-hop-influenced beats reminiscent of Cat Power, Mazzy Star, and Portishead.

𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁 (Mass Text) is the moniker of Chris Sutter (singer/guitarist of Chicago post punk trio, Meat Wave). Mass Text is a sonic departure from his past band; rich with menacing melodies drenched in reverb. With help from friend and producer Jason Balla (DEHD, Accessory), Mass Text carves out its own lane appealing to fans of Galaxie 500, Destroyer, and Atlas Sound.

“Never Gonna Leave” b/w “Lodge” is available to stream on Bandcamp and the 45 is 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴. Pressed on black vinyl with a matte finish jacket and a lyric insert, all designed by Chris.

Long gone are the days of getting 7”s for $3, but $8 is a bargain in 2026!

Today’s the day!

French Film’s compilation album, ‘Yours + Five’, is officially out today and streaming everywhere. It features ten tracks chock full of atmospheric melodies combined with abrasive and jarring tension. Recorded with Kevin Butler Kevin Butler, the album touches on the juxtaposition of modern society’s horrors and hopes, as well as matters of the heart.

Today you’ve got two chances to catch them live, say “Hello”, and grab a record—or one of their new shirts. Catch their in-store appearance at 5:30pm at Waterloo Records followed by the record release show at hotelvegas with FLAGS and Tied Up.

We’re heading back to the vaults and excited to welcome SpacehorseSD to Solid Brass!

No place was quite like San Diego in the 90s and early 00s. Legendary, and often short-lived, bands on infamous DIY labels pushed the musical envelope and carved out a place for themselves during a period when hardcore and punk music was splintering into countless styles and sounds.

SpacehorseSD was one of those bands. They had some serious pedigree featuring members of He**in, End Of The Line, Clikatat Ikatowi, The Camera Obscura, and more. However, during their brief two-year existence (2004–2006), they crafted a sound quite different from their previous bands, opting instead to churn out fast, aggressive, 80s DC/Midwest style hardcore. It’s entirely possible this band flew under your radar and we’re here to remedy that situation.

This limited edition single LP discography has been remixed and remastered from the original tapes. It gathers Spacehorse’s self-titled 12” (Gravity Records, 2004), ‘Ghosts of the Civil Living’ album (Day After Records, 2006), and a previously unreleased song called “Dirty City”.

The official release date is 11/13 and the first single, “Burn You Kerosene”, is available to stream today.

Big day from the French Film camp in Austin:

Originally released in 2025 we’re re-introducing their song “Crude Charm” 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤. This is one of our favorite French Film songs so we’re glad to shine a light on it—again.

With its eerie atmosphere and restless energy “Crude Charm” paints vivid, almost cinematic scenes of people searching for an escape from reality. The vocal melodies lure you in and guide you through a journey of disillusionment while tense, chiming guitar riffs keep you listening.

The four-piece has honed their own type of post-rock/slowcore, built upon a strong foundation of live dynamics and a proprietary instrumental language.

Happy Release Day to our friends in !

There’s been a lot of buzz around Philadelphia recently with several reissues from other important punk and post-hardcore bands from the 90s. We’re honored to help shine the light on one more and help memorialize them and their importance in the DIY community.

ICYMI, this deluxe 2xLP collection brings together the band’s complete recorded output from 1993–1996. It includes the long out-of-print ‘Go Kid Go’ album, along with the ‘Something Blue Automotive’, ‘They Said It With Fireworks’, and ‘Roy Is Dead’ 7”s—plus rare compilation tracks and two previously unreleased studio recordings. To complete the collection, a bonus 7” features two tracks from Franklin’s earliest demos, making this an essential release for fans and collectors alike.
