What symbolisms you notice?
We made a compilation of the two latest collections by Matières Fécales, the Paris based duo Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran.
The first one, The One Percent, was shown in March at Palais Brongniart, which used to be the Paris stock exchange. It was all about the ultra rich, with tailcoats, top hats, pearls used as gags and ropes and dollar bills covering the eyes.
The second one is called The Ninety-Nine Percent. It was shown on Place de la République, historically the place of protests and revolution in Paris, and it’s the first fashion week show ever done on a public square. They cast 99 models of colour, a lot of them friends and family, and the collection is based on Bhaskaran growing up in low income housing in Montreal.
For the finale, models carried life size billionaires made by artist Sarah Sitkin on their shoulders around the Marianne statue, with money still covering their eyes like in the first show.
