🪴This is more a reflection for us, white people, on what not to do. The owner is an ex-Sheriff, too, and Tanya, who is running for Weho City Council is pro Flock. She very publicly voted for Trump. This isn’t a surprise and could of easily been Googled. Just becuase she is a le***an, does not mean we get a pass go card. We got to be diligent of ensuring our q***r spaces are protected even from those that claim a letter.

🌱White people, we must do better at owning our BS becuase Google is free and everyone could easily research and see she’s transphobic, biphobic, and a MAGA supporter.

CKLA has good components but the actual content in them become detrimental to the inclusion of all our scholars stories when our district forces educators to use it without modifications.

Educators are professionals and deserve to be seen as such and trusted to make decisions around the use of the curriculum.

I despise curriculum that is not based in love of learning but baseless regurgitation of white focused stories. But we do what we can. We modify, adjust, push back and create the space needed for curriculum to be more than dreary pages in a consumable book. Literacy is a struggle because capitalism has stolen the joy of learning.
