2020 has been an interesting year. Despite all of the negative things that have occurred, I wanted to be able to leave a positive musical mark upon the year of 2020. So, I approached my longtime friend, Raul Ferrando, and suggested that we should start a music production company. Our working friendship has spanned almost 25 years, and I felt it was time for Raul and I to join forces and create music that would outlive us both. Raul agreed and our new partnership was born, however we needed a name. We went through numerous ideas and concepts, but it wasn’t until we sat down with our good friend musician Eric Jackson one night after a recording session that we got it. We explained to him what we wanted to do and Eric said, “I have the perfect name for you all… The Dyad.” For some reason, it hit us like a lightening bolt. The more we spoke to people about the name, the more people loved the concept along with the name.
Moving forward, we wanted our first project to be memorable. Recently, I’d spoken with the legendary songwriter and multiple Oscar winner Alan Bergman about producing the song, “We The People.” The song features a patriotic undertone along with unforgettable lyrics and a heartfelt melody, was written by Alan along with his wife Marilyn Bergman, accompanied with music by Roger Kellaway. Raul and I discussed the direction and arrangement and quickly agreed that we wanted our first production to feature a timeless singer. There was only one name that came to mind… Sheléa. Within weeks Raul completed the arrangement and we recorded the song with a 75-piece orchestra. The only aspect missing was a groundbreaking music video to illustrate to the world the power of the lyrics. That is when award-winning movie producer, Julie Bergman come on board to produce the video. The images were created by Joe Sohm with William Shatner narrating the stirring Preamble of the U.S. Constitution. “We the People” is the theme song for Joe Sohm’s “Visions of Democracy” TV production, a celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of America.
So I wanted to get on FB and let you all know about this new venture. Special thanks to my bestie, Kim Robinson for her guiding hand. We are so blessed that rave reviews have been pouring in support of our first production. This morning during an interview about the release of the song, someone asked me, “Do you realize how amazing all of this is?” I laughed and said, this is what we do! Stand by folks, more to come from… The Dyad.
