Sara Kawai is a Harpist, producer, and brand ambassador for many. Sara started to play the harp at a young age before realizing she had a passion for producing and beatmaking. She discusses her journey of posting harp videos on Tik Tok to now working with Audiomack and SparkyWTF while performing with artists like 24kGldn, Peach Tree Rascals, and Shordie Shordie. Sara talks about being a part of a culture she has admired her whole life and the pride she feels in fusing Classical music with Rap, and incorporating Asian culture into the rap scene.

Shawn Tran is a song producer and owner of the popup coffee shop, Cup of Troy. Shawn talks about working in many aspects of the music industry; producing songs, throwing shows, managing artists, and branding. Especially in regard to his coffee popup, Cup of Troy. He mentions what he has learned from building the brand and maintaining cultural relevancy, while also throwing live concerts, and producing video interviews with artists, called Coffee Chats. Shawn also discusses his love for nature and taking time to step outside when he can.

Ronnie Quest is an artist and artist manager from California. Ronnie discusses the wide variety of music he was raised on and gives background to the history of Dance Hall and Reggaeton in the US. He shares memories of getting into DJing then working with Pure Luxury, all while realizing the true power of clout and All-Access Passes. Ronnie talks about his time at USC and the connections he’s made throughout his life, including meeting NPI Crew and starting to throw shows around campus. Plus, he talks of the ‘full circle’ feeling he’s been having since using all of the industry knowledge he’s gained to release “Brown Skin Brown Liquor.”

Being aware of the lack of diversity in the industry, Emmeline joined the “Latinas in Music” to be mentored by like-minded women. She describes the relationships she’s built and the opportunities they’ve led to, such as working with Cuco and Kali Uchis. Emmeline shares her love for UK entertainment and a band she hopes to work with, Bedroom Boredom.

She also points out how the visuals of an atmosphere affect the mood of the people around it. Brittany discusses incorporating faith into her life and focusing on something greater than herself. Plus, she mentions the value of having a routine and taking a moment to slow down and realize what is right around you.

Khi and Palace discuss their current trip to LA and the work they’ve gotten done, as well as the significance of building a community through your brand. Palace announces his debut project “111” available next month.

Ep. 56 “Reina Budesa Visits” [Dec 30, 2020]
Reina Budesa is a graduate from Temple University and a future health care worker. Reina discusses her passion for her Spanish heritage and the influence that it plays in her life. Both in connecting with strangers as well as feeling separated from others. She describes her time traveling in Spain, Costa Rica, and her mother’s native country, Puerto Rico. Reina shares some of what she has learned from being raised by her mother, who struggled with substance abuse, and how it relates closely to what she sees while living in the city of Philadelphia. Especially in terms of the treatment of disadvantaged people and the current issues with health and safety in the US. Such as the massive opioid crisis. Plus, Reina details her love for cooking and describes some of her favorite meals.
