“This literal labor of love is the centerpiece of this joyful, life-affirming documentary that Fitch made with her creative and life partner Banker White. It’s both a tribute to a remarkable woman — Fitch’s much older friend Yolanda Shea, a.k.a. the Yo of the title — and a celebration of creativity as a healing force.” —

This Pride Month, we’re honoring writer-director Joey Soloway. Soloway wrote and directed Whitewater’s Afternoon Delight, which earned them the Directing Award (U.S. Drama) at its 2013 Sundance premiere.

They went on to create Transparent — a series that transformed the landscape of q***r storytelling on TV. The show ran for five seasons, earning 24 Emmy nominations, 8 wins, and 2 Golden Globes, including honors for Soloway’s direction.

Their work extends far beyond the screen. Soloway founded Topple Books and The Disruptors Fellowship — initiatives that create space for voices too often left out, including q***r, trans, non-binary, undocumented, and disabled storytellers.

In 2022, they were inducted into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame. In 2023, they were honored at Cannes for their continued commitment to representation and change.

Soloway’s career is a reminder of the of power storytelling. Whitewater is proud to have collaborated with such an inspiring force.

“7 Minutes” by Director Jay Martin brings a unique spin to the saturated world of crime films, similar to that of Quentin Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs”.

Through its non-linear plot, the film reveals the backstory of each character involved in a robbery. Using a non-traditional story structure, this approach allows depth and anticipation to slowly build as the audience waits to see how the climactic robbery will unfold.
