When Attention Breeds Illusion: The Donkey Who Thinks He’s a Lion

In today’s world, attention has become a currency more valuable than gold. Social media platforms, political stages, and even day-to-day interactions thrive on it. But as the quote wisely states:

“Too much attention makes a donkey think he’s a lion.”

This statement reflects a timeless truth: when individuals or groups receive disproportionate attention—whether deserved or not—they may begin to mistake noise for authority, arrogance for leadership, and delusion for strength.

The Power of Attention

Attention validates. It can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, giving a platform to voices that might otherwise remain unheard. But attention without substance is like feeding sugar to a child—it excites, inflates, and ultimately deceives.

The Donkey-Lion Paradox

The donkey in the metaphor symbolizes those who lack depth, wisdom, or true leadership qualities. With constant spotlight, however, even shallow voices can roar like lions. But a roar without weight is hollow—it echoes loudly, yet fades quickly.

The lion, on the other hand, represents real strength, wisdom, and authority. Unlike the donkey, the lion does not need to demand attention. Its presence commands it naturally.

Modern Reflections
▫️Politics: In the age of sensationalism, sometimes the loudest, not the wisest, dominate the conversation.
▫️Social Media: Viral trends can elevate mediocrity while silencing meaningful voices.
▫️Personal Life: Even in smaller circles, giving too much attention to negativity can empower it beyond its worth.

The Lesson

Attention is not neutral—it amplifies. The question is, what are we choosing to amplify? If we reward noise, deception, or foolishness with attention, we risk empowering donkeys who mistake themselves for lions. But when we give attention to truth, wisdom, and integrity, real lions will always rise.

Moral: Not everyone who roars is a lion. Choose wisely where your attention goes.

Robert Redford, born Charles Robert Redford Jr. on August 18, 1936, passed away on September 16, 2025, at age 89, in his beloved home in the mountains near Provo, Utah.

From Silver Screen Star to Cultural Icon

Over more than six decades, Redford’s name became synonymous with charismatic leading roles in classic films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, All the President’s Men, and The Way We Were.

But beyond his on-screen grace and magnetism, Redford carved out a deeper legacy: his work behind the camera, his advocacy for independent voices in film, his love of nature, and his commitment to truth and justice.

Sundance, Storytelling & Stewardship

One of Redford’s most enduring contributions was the founding of the Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival. Beginning in the 1970s, he envisioned a place where emerging filmmakers could take risks, explore unconventional narratives, and tell stories that might not find a home in the mainstream. That vision helped shape independent cinema as a powerful force today.

He was also a lifelong conservationist and advocate for the environment, using both his fame and resources to protect wilderness, support sustainable practices, and elevate awareness of ecological issues.

His Impact & Humanity

Friends, colleagues, and critics often described Redford as more than a handsome leading man. He was thoughtful, principled, and complex—wrestling with characters who were morally ambiguous or emotionally flawed, always pushing beyond the stereotype of the “golden boy.”

He never shied from using his platform to speak on matters of political and social importance. His work in journalism-based films like All the President’s Men was not just storytelling—it carried power and responsibility.

Farewell & Legacy

Robert Redford passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in a place that he loved dearly—Utah. For millions around the world, he leaves behind a legacy not only of memorable performances, but of courage—in art, in activism, in ethics.

His films will continue to move us. Sundance will continue to nurture new storytellers. And his life reminds us that greatness is not just about talent, but about using that talent to uplift others, to love deeply, and to wield influence with humility.

“ I'm interested in that thing that happens where there's a breaking point for some people and not for others. You go through such hardship, things that are almost impossibly difficult, and there's no sign that it's going to get any better, and that's the point when people quit. But some don't.”

Robert Redford

Giorgio Armani (1934–2025): A Quiet
Revolution in Fashion Icon
➖➖➖➖➖🍂

Early Struggles and Persistence
Born in Piacenza in 1934, Giorgio Armani initially pursued medical studies before finding his calling in fashion. Climbing the ranks at La Rinascente as a window dresser and stylist, he endured the modest beginnings that framed his relentless work ethic . In 1975, with just ten thousand dollars—funded by selling his Volkswagen Beetle—and the support of his partner Sergio Galeotti, he launched his eponymous fashion house in Milan .

Breaking the Mold—Literally
Armani transformed sartorial rigidity into fluid elegance. He deconstructed the traditional blazer—removing padding, shifting proportions—until it felt as light and natural as a cardigan . His minimalist yet transformative aesthetic defined the power suit of the 1980s and laid the groundwork for modern, wearable luxury .

Crafting an Empire with Subtlety
Over five decades, Armani’s artistic vision evolved into a global lifestyle empire: haute couture (Armani Privé), ready-to-wear (Emporio Armani), diffusion lines (Jeans, Exchange), fragrances, eyewear, hotels, and interiors—each infused with his philosophy of quiet elegance . He remained fiercely independent, overseeing nearly every facet of his brand and growing it into one of Italy’s most powerful fashion houses, with annual revenues around €2.3 billion .

The Hard Days Shaped the Icon
Armani’s path wasn’t paved with ease. He weathered early financial risks, built from the ground up alongside a partner who passed early, and maintained control amid a fast-changing industry that tempted consolidation—he famously resisted overtures from giants like LVMH and Kering . Even in ill health, he continued crafting collections and guiding his label—his dedication unwavering until his final days . As he humbly reflected, “My greatest weakness is that I’m in control of everything,” yet also recognized that his strength lay in that same steadfast vision .

A Final Act of Elegance in Milan
Armani passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at his Milan home, surrounded by those dear to him . Tens of thousands of mourners—everyday citizens, fashion peers, film stars, and city leaders—paid tribute during a public lying-in-state at Armani/Teatro, where his closed coffin was adorned with white lilies and illuminated by candlelight, all set to the soft melody of Ludovico Einaudi’s Nuvole Bianche . Beside tributes from Donatella Versace, Angela Missoni, and Miuccia Prada, Milan’s mayor hailed him a “man of extraordinary elegance” whose spirit is forever woven into the city’s identity . A private funeral followed, honoring his wishes .

Legacy Beyond Fashion
Not just a designer, Armani was a cultural architect. He blended fashion, lifestyle, hospitality, gastronomy—and even sports, through ownership of a basketball team—into a singular vision . From Hollywood red carpets to everyday wardrobes, his creations elevated elegance while championing substance over spectacle.

Why His Story Moves Us
Armani’s journey reminds us that innovation often begins with stripping away excess, trusting quiet conviction, and embracing resilience. His “difficult days”—the financial uncertainty, meticulous control, health setbacks—only sharpened his artistry. From those humble challenges arose a timeless creator whose work spoke to strength, grace, and unwavering integrity.

“I don't have a formula to pass on. I always did it my own way. Even today, I hold my independence close. It's what's most precious to me. Passion. Risk. Tenacity. Consistency. This is my professional history.”
Giorgio Armani

For decades, society has believed that a college degree is the ultimate key to success. Yet, in the age of artificial intelligence, skills and courage often outweigh credentials. Alexandra Wang, the founder of Scale AI, embodies this truth. At just 28, she has become the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, with a net worth of $3.6 billion.

Wang’s story began at Stanford University, where she enrolled at 19. But soon she realized her ambitions stretched far beyond the classroom. In a bold move, she dropped out to start her own company—a decision that transformed her life.

She founded Scale AI, a company designed to tackle one of the biggest bottlenecks in AI—data labeling. Artificial intelligence models require massive amounts of accurately labeled data to function, but this process was slow and costly. Scale AI revolutionized it, offering fast, efficient, and scalable solutions.

Today, global giants like Google, Uber, and OpenAI depend on Scale AI to train their models. In 2024, the company’s valuation surged to $13.8 billion. With a 14% ownership stake, Wang’s wealth crossed $3.6 billion—cementing her place in history.
Courage: Dropping out of Stanford and venturing into entrepreneurship.

Skills: Mastery over data, coding, and AI
Timing: Entering the AI market just as global demand exploded.

Innovation: Solving problems in ways no one had attempted before.

While AI often sparks fear of job loss or misuse, Wang’s journey highlights its power for positive change:
In healthcare, AI helps doctors diagnose diseases faster.
In agriculture, it empowers farmers with predictive analytics.
In cybersecurity, it strengthens defense against hackers.
In business, it accelerates startups into scalable enterprises.

For today’s ambitious students and young professionals, Wang’s story carries vital lessons:

Learn to Code: Programming is the language of the future.

Explore AI: Be not just a consumer but a creator of technology

Think Global: Look beyond borders—build solutions for the world.

Embrace Risk: Big dreams demand bold steps.
Alexandra Wang’s story is more than an inspiring biography—it is a blueprint for success in the AI age. She has shown that with courage, skills, and vision, the next generation can achieve extraordinary things, even in the most competitive era of human history.

“Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”
- H. Jackson Brown Jr.

It took me some real mental energy to sit down and write today’s column. After all, when you’re tackling President Donald Trump’s health scares and tariff battles, you have to tread carefully through a minefield of rumors and facts. So here’s a brisk tour through what really happened.

The Health Story: CVI, Bruises, and Digital Death

In July 2025, the White House abruptly announced that President Trump had been diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI)—a vein condition where blood has trouble returning from the legs to the heart. Symptoms can include swelling, bluish patches, and in severe cases, skin ulcers or even amputations. Doctors quickly reassured the public: this was not deep vein thrombosis or a heart condition. The bruises on his hand? More likely the result of endless handshakes combined with regular aspirin intake.

Experts say CVI can be managed with treatment and care—it’s no political death sentence. Yet by late August, social media was ablaze with hashtags like and . Rumors spread that he had already died. Trump struck back, posting defiant videos and appearing on a golf course with his grandchildren, declaring himself in “excellent health.”

So let’s set the record straight:

▫️CVI is real, but manageable.
▫️The hand bruises? Not fatal.
▫️The death rumors? Pure internet fiction—but perfect meme fodder.

The Tariff Storm: America’s WWE Match

Meanwhile, Trump’s trade policy was turning global commerce into a wrestling ring. By March 2025, steel and aluminum were hit with 25% tariffs, doubled to 50% in June. Then came appliances, furniture, construction materials. On August 1, unfinished copper products were slapped with 50% tariffs. Cars and auto parts? 25% tariffs, though imports from USMCA partners (Canada, Mexico) were spared.

The so-called “Reciprocal Tariffs” kicked in April: a blanket 10% on all imports. By August, rates ranged between 11% and 50% depending on the country. Unsurprisingly, China, Canada, Mexico, Israel, and many others retaliated with counter-tariffs.

The real plot twist came on August 30, when the U.S. Appeals Court ruled that many of Trump’s tariffs were illegal. Still, they remain in effect until October pending further appeals.

Think of it as a WWE match: Trump lands a steel punch, China throws a tariff uppercut, and finally the referee—aka the court—steps in: “This fight breaks the rules!” Meanwhile, the audience munches popcorn, watching the spectacle.

Health vs. Policy: When Politics Becomes a Sitcom

On one side: Trump’s vein troubles. On the other: his tariff blitz. Both keep America dizzy.

Trump insists: “My health is excellent. The economy will be even stronger.” But voters mutter: “Beef is more expensive. Auto parts cost double. And the President’s hand keeps showing new bruises.”

The comparison writes itself: just like CVI blocks blood flow, tariffs are clogging the economy. Both health and trade policy now look like veins under pressure.

Looking Ahead to 2026

▪️Health: As long as Trump keeps golfing in public, the rumors won’t stick.
▪️Tariffs: If courts strike them down, he’ll need a new economic playbook.
▪️Voters: They want lower prices, steady jobs, and a President who looks alive and well.

As one Twitter wit put it: “Steel’s gotten so expensive that it’s cheaper to keep ice in an old freezer than buy a new one. Trump’s tariffs: Buy American or Cry American.”

Final Diagnosis

So here’s the satirical prescription:

▪️Trump is alive.
▪️Tariffs are no joke.
▪️But together, they’ve turned politics into a sitcom.

The memes will keep flowing, the lawsuits will drag on, and Americans? They’ve found better entertainment than Netflix—just tune into the White House livestream.
