Have you ever heard of the shower test? 🚿🤰
It’s a simple tool that may help you observe whether the contractions you’re feeling ease with rest and relaxation—or continue progressing.
Here’s how to try it:
When contractions begin, take a warm shower—never too hot— and let the water run mainly over your back. Stay there for about 20–30 minutes, breathing slowly and allowing your whole body to relax.
✨ Now pay attention to your contractions:
If they become weaker, farther apart, or disappear, your body may still be preparing for labor.
But if they continue becoming regular, stronger, and closer together despite resting and showering, it could be a sign that labor is progressing. 🤍
And remember: you don’t need to wait until the pain becomes unbearable to ask for guidance. If your water breaks, you have heavy bleeding, constant severe pain, notice decreased baby movement, or simply feel that something isn’t right, contact your maternity care team.
Preparing for birth also means learning to recognize your body’s signals and knowing what to do when the moment finally arrives.
That’s why I created my Peaceful Birth Guide 🤰 filled with information and practical tools to help you approach birth feeling more prepared, informed, and confident.
