This morning, I went to a house nearby to buy a sewing machine I saw listed online. When I got there, I noticed a picture frame sitting on the curb with a bunch of other items labeled “free.” I let the seller know I was outside, and he came out and told me the sewing machine used to belong to his grandmother, but he didn’t have space for it anymore.

As I walked back to my car, I asked him about the couple in the photo by the curb. He said they were his grandparents. That made me even more excited, so I asked if the sewing machine had been his grandmother’s, and he said yes.

So now, I have the sewing machine that once belonged to Anne and Harry, along with their wedding photo. The seller told me he had a lot of their photos and even their naturalization papers, but he was giving away the photo because he had just too many things to keep.
