Nothing like the allure of a ghost town in the middle of the forest!
Lost Cove is a small, abandoned community that lies along the Nolichucky River in Poplar Gorge between Tennessee and North Carolina. The earliest recorded deed in Lost Cove was to a Union soldier, Stephen Morgan Bailey around 1868. The community grew to around 100 people at its height with the last family leaving in 1957. The remoteness and geographic isolation leading to its demise. Tucked away into the mountains, several intact houses remain to explore.
