Autism is neurotype that varies in each person, though usually we have a uniquely sensitive sensory system (as if the volume were on at 1000% all the time) and a different way of processing language (often literally) as well as social constructs. the way societal systems are organized and the expected way to function in them) is rather difficult, but it's gifts are unique ways of perceiving the world, which I like to share via the arts. Sometimes children, especially females, learn to mask their autism because to regulate this kind of nervous system requires certain actions that are not generally acceptable in a neurotypical world. To much relief, I was finally diagnosed at age 35, which has begun a process of unmasking the socially acceptable personality I had built to fit in so I can now find a way to function and survive in the world in alignment with my actual autistic gifts and needs. I express my autistic experience through performance art as well as cheeky graphic designs that I sell as gifts on Etsy!
