Urban-Frequency.com is an urban music blog based out of Los Angeles started to put the focus back on the music and away from gossip, news and content that is irrelevant and not related to the reason most of us go on a music blog which is to discover new and worthwhile music from artists both current and unknown. Ideally we want to hear something that will carve a permanent impression of the artist’s work into our minds. The disease of disseminating what is commonly called popular music is like a plague and what is worse is that those of us who want to actually discover new music constantly run into scourges of promo until we eventually relent. Where is the actual music? Is that flashy banner supposed to tempt me? The industry’s profit motive focused game will not trap us. Even if an artist proves to be excellent and garners critical acclaim from everywhere, it is not fair for the few to monopolize nearly all music discovery channels. Ultimately we are sick of the same artists and tracks the powers that be command us to listen to just so that they fill their coffers with profit. Do you realize that you as the consumer are paying for some executive’s wasteful, disgusting, bourgeois excess with mostly likely no concern for the music and the artists that are signed to them. No, we will tell them what we like, after all we are the masses and it is us who tell the industry what the masses want to spend their hard earned money on. Without us, they have no power. Do not make it easy for them to trap you. They are the ones that must cater to us. Ours is an honest quest to find that next artist and that next track that disrupts the industry. We hope for all artists reading this to understand our perspective and encourage them to follow in the footsteps of hip-hop pioneers of the past and to strive to follow where their work eventually takes them.
