they’re not leading the movement —
they’re just wearing its costume.

the revolution is already over.

In 2001, a Chinese farmer named Wang Enlin realized a state-owned chemical company was dumping toxic waste into his village’s farmland.

He had no formal education past third grade, no money, and no legal background, but he decided to fight anyway.

For 16 years, he studied law by hand-copying legal books he couldn’t afford, paying the bookshop owner in corn.

In 2015, after years of gathering evidence with his neighbors, he finally won the case.

The company was ordered to pay nearly $100,000 in damages.
