“Why do liberals think all Trump supporters are all STUPID?

An anguished question from a Trump supporter: "Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?"

The serious answer: Here’s what we really think about Trump supporters - the rich, the poor, the malignant and the innocently well-meaning, the ones who think and the ones who don't...

That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent University, intent on scamming poor people, you thought "Fine."

That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said, "Okay."

That when you heard him proudly brag about his own history of s*xual abuse, you said, "No problem."

That when he made up stories about seeing muslim-Americans in the thousands cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center, you said, "Not an issue."

That when you saw him brag that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and you wouldn't care, you chirped, "He sure knows me."

That when you heard him illustrate his own character by telling that cute story about the elderly guest bleeding on the floor at his country club, the story about how he turned his back and how it was all an imposition on him, you said, "That's cool!"

That when you saw him mock the disabled, you thought it was the funniest thing you ever saw.

That when you heard him brag that he doesn't read books, you said, "Well, who has time?"

That when the Central Park Five were compensated as innocent men convicted of a crime they didn't commit, and he angrily said that they should still be in prison, you said, "That makes sense."

That when you heard him tell his supporters to beat up protesters and that he would hire attorneys, you thought, "Yes!"

That when you heard him tell one rally to confiscate a man's coat before throwing him out into the freezing cold, you said, "What a great guy!"

That you have watched the parade of neo-N***s and white supremacists with whom he curries favor, while refusing to condemn outright N***s, and you have said, "Thumbs up!"

That you hear him unable to talk to foreign dignitaries without insulting their countries and demanding that they praise his electoral win, you said, "That's the way I want my President to be."

That you have watched him remove expertise from all layers of government in favor of people who make money off of eliminating protections in the industries they're supposed to be regulating and you have said, "What a genius!"

That you have heard him continue to profit from his businesses, in part by leveraging his position as President, to the point of overcharging the Secret Service for space in the properties he owns, and you have said, "That's smart!"

That you have heard him say that it was difficult to help Puerto Rico because it was the middle of water and you have said, "That makes sense."

That you have seen him start fights with every country from Canada to New Zealand while praising Russia and quote, "falling in love" with the dictator of North Korea, and you have said, "That's statesmanship!"

That Trump separated children from their families and put them in cages, managed to lose track of 1500 kids. has opened a tent city incarceration camp in the desert in Texas - he explains that they’re just “animals” - and you say, “well, ok then.”

That you have witnessed all the thousand and one other manifestations of corruption and low moral character and outright animalistic rudeness and contempt for you, the working American voter, and you still show up grinning and wearing your MAGA hats and threatening to beat up anybody who says otherwise.

What you don't get, Trump supporters in 2019, is that succumbing to frustration and thinking of you as stupid may be wrong and unhelpful, but it's also...hear me...charitable.

Because if you're NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less flattering.

The New York Times is launching the , a collection of essays, criticism and art about how the America we know today didn’t start in 1776 — it started in August 1619, when a ship carrying enslaved Africans landed in Virginia.

American slavery began 400 years ago this month. This is referred to as the country’s original sin, but it is more than that: It is the country’s true origin.

"Issues of race and s*x, of gender and s*xuality, of abortion and guns, are all wedge issues. This is not to say they are unimportant, or made up issues, these issues are real and vital. But there's a reason we are never just -done- with abortion, despite Roe vs Wade being decades old. More, there's a reason that the most often you will hear random individuals talking about being anti-abortion, it will be some response to a democrat talking point, an attempt to score points rather than any real belief.

Because that's how wedge issues are used. They become symbols of tribal alignment, abstracted from the brutality of their real impact on real people. They are used to create a real and important difference between the parties that people Have To Care About, because they are important.

And so any attempt to criticize 'our party' becomes a tacit support of the positions 'their party' holds on these wedge issues, rather than just an attack on the vast swath of positions the parties hold in common. That area becomes erased from the dialog.

So the obscene Pentagon budget isn't up for debate. The fact that the taxes on the rich were cut in half overnight 30 years ago and our economy has gone to hell ever since is never brought up. The fact that the great victory of the Left in the US in the past decade was passing a healthcare plan cribbed from the notes of a bleeding edge far right think tank is left out of the conversation.

What this graphic doesn't highlight are all the hundreds of bills that wander through Congress getting a near 100% approval, or negative, response. All the bills for funding mass murder overseas. All the times sh*tty trade deals come up for extension. All the times Disney got copyright law hacked to extend their dominion over the common culture, supposedly to protect creators, despite their ownership obviously extending far past the lifetime of creators.

The polarization is a facade."

"The Times reports that the cover of the book is inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, or "golden repair." The art is created by mending broken pottery pieces using lacquer and powdered gold. Schulz told the outlet the process makes a beautiful object out of something that's been broken, while still showing the cracks; it's supposed to represent Miller's recovery from the assault and the trial.

According to her author page, Miller received her BA in Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She will appear on 60 Minutes to tell her full story for the first times on September 22 at 7:30 P.M. EST."

In her new memoir, Know My Name, Miller writes about her life and recovery since the Stanford s*xual assault trial.

This is well stated.

There are so many that should read this.

"We have a gun problem and a bu****it problem in the United States. Let me start by saying I am a gun owner. I have been since I was 6. I’ve had jobs that required me to carry a weapon. I’ve been shot at more than once. I’ve disarmed people who were trying to kill me. This isn’t coming from someone who doesn’t understand guns. It’s precisely because I do understand them that I’m going to call out the bu****it that stops us from having the reforms to gun laws that we needed years ago. If you want to debate any of the points below, I have no problem. These are simple facts.

1) I need an assault rifle for home defense. No, you don’t. A short barreled shotgun is the best tool for home defense. And that only counts if you’re insanely proficient with it and you get incredibly lucky. The likelihood you will get the chance to use it is next to zero. If you do, you’re very likely to kill a member of your family accidentally. In a REAL altercation, you don’t get to choose your field of fire. It happens incredibly fast, usually in the dark. If you’re popping off with a rifle, you are going to hit things you don’t intend to. Guns are tools. Period. Assault Rifles are intended to be used on a battlefield. Battlefield tactics don’t work in your house. It’s a bu****it argument.

2) I need to protect myself from a tyrannical Government... Holy S**t that’s stupid. That idea was from a time when the state of war was much more level. It isn’t now. At all. If an armored transport shows up on your front lawn with a 50 cal on the roof, you and your AK are fu***ng toast. Soldiers train, and their weapons are an extension of their body. You will instantly lose. And before you bring up guerrilla fighters in Afghanistan or Iraq... you need a reality check. Those people were born in a country that was at war, on their soil, for their entire lives. You don’t compare to that on your best day. And they die in FAR greater numbers than they kill.

3) Gun registration, background checks, etc are a slippery slope to confiscation. Bu****it. We register cars. We have to prove proficiency to operate them. We are required to have insurance in the event we cause damage with them. It’s been that way for decades, and no one is “coming to take your car”. Making sure people have the barest minimum of responsibility doesn’t lead to loss. Fear of loss leads to fundraising and bu****it. It’s not rational.

4) My gun is a right that can’t be modified. Again, utter bu****it. You can’t own a howitzer unless the barrel is full of concrete. You can’t own a cannon manufactured in the last century. You can’t own a fully automatic weapon without a FFL. That’s why those things are rarely used in crimes. And all of that is based on an amendment to our constitution that can be changed if we as a country see fit to do so. We have changed amendments before and we will again. If you don’t understand that you need a history lesson and a dictionary.

Creating common sense laws that put speed bumps in the way of lunatics helps. Every time. Automobile licenses, speed limits, etc don’t end accidents, but they make them less frequent and less deadly. It’s a proven concept. The time for bu****it excuses is over. It’s time to step up and take responsibility. F**k this stupidity."

Worth the read:
"Be VERY careful about saying you're middle of the road when it comes to dealing with Trump and his supporters. Heed Rev. Alaina Kailyn Cobb and the warning she has for you. "

Let's do some quick math, friends:
- Antifa is not an organization; nobody belongs to it, there are no membership rolls. So you cannot prove you do not belong to it.
- If you have shown up to a protest, if you have been in a picture showing you were near a protest, if you have, like me, offered first aid at a political demonstration or shown up as clergy support or carried a sign or made a Facebook post or LIKED a post saying you're against fascism, you could be accused of being a "member of Antifa," and you can't prove it's not true.
- If this measure to declare "Antifa" "domestic terrorists" passes, that means you and I can be arrested and prosecuted as "domestic terrorists." No, really, you too.
- We passed a bunch of laws and rulings back in 2002 or so declaring that accused terrorists don't get due process, and can be held indefinitely without trial, tortured, and so on.
- The Trump administration also just declared that they're opening up the death penalty for federal crimes, like terrorism, for the first time in years.
- We have a whole bunch of new for-profit detention camps for holding people in indefinitely without trial, where people are dying right now from nightmarish conditions.
- ICE is running around right now, without badges or uniforms or warrants, disappearing people--including US citizens--and locking them up, and fully half their agents belong to a Facebook group where they shared racist jokes, bragged about the violence they'd done to the subhuman animals they're locking up, and talked about how they wanted to assault and r**e political figures they don't like.
- This is a license to lock up and execute political dissenters and community organizers without due process and the pieces have all been put in place to use it.
- We are running out of time to stop this train.

We will be making hundreds of sack lunches, with a choice between turkey and PB and J, chips, an apple, and a bottle of water.

We will also be assembling menstrual packages for homeless females. We will be driving around all over L.A. giving out these essential items.

The goal is $1000. Give what you can! Your donations will be handled personally, and any remaining funds will be donated directly to Los Angeles Mission.

Any amount helps, however large or small. Give what you can! I know how much it is needed and how much it will be appreciated.

We're going to be making 200 to 300 sack lunches for our homeless community in downtown Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. They will be given a choice of turkey and swiss or peanut butter and jelly, with a bag of chips, an apple, and a bottle of water. We will also be giving out period...

"The millions of people of good will, who's voices are yet unheard, who's course is yet unclear, and who's courageous acts are yet unseen; these millions are called upon for the courage to speak out. We will record that the greatest period of social transition was not the vitriolic words and violent actions of the bad people, but the appalling silence and indifference of the good people. Our generation will have to repent for not only the actions of the children of darkness, but also for the fears and apathy of the children of light."
