Some anniversaries are hard to carry. This one, Celeste says, she carries with gratitude.

Seven years ago today, her 28-year-old son, Joseph Valle, suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in San Antonio, Texas. Doctors gave him what she remembers as a 10% chance of survival, and asked whether the family wanted a DNR in place. Her answer was immediate: "We didn't need to discuss that because Joseph wouldn't need it."

She was right. Six weeks later, she says, Joseph could have walked out of the hospital.

Celeste first shared their story in September 2019, asking for prayers while Joseph was on life support and his family waited to see if the swelling in his brain would go down. A month later came the update everyone had hoped for: he'd survived and was already in rehab. "Our God heard ALL prayers and healed my son," she wrote then.

This year brought a scare no one expected. The aneurysm had grown back. On March 16th, Joseph underwent another major surgery to have it clipped. Yesterday marked six months since that operation, and Celeste's update was simple: "He's doing great and still healing." His next follow-up isn't until spring.

But today isn't really about the surgery. It's about the date. Seven years since the rupture. Seven years since life support. Seven years since a doctor said 10%. Seven years since a mother refused to plan for the outcome she wasn't willing to accept. "Six weeks later he could have literally walked out of the hospital... LOOK AT GOD!"

There's one more thing Celeste wanted people to know: she and Joseph never left. "We faithfully follow your page and pray for everyone you post about," she said. The same army that once prayed for her son now has both of them praying right alongside it, for other families' kids, parents, and spouses.

On the seventh anniversary of the day she thought she might lose him, let's make sure Celeste sees that the army hasn't gone anywhere either.

Three months after a bullet left a Mississippi deputy paralyzed from the lower chest down, he rolled onto the field at MetLife Stadium in front of thousands of football fans and learned that one enormous worry about his future had just been taken away.

Deputy Yates Rodney and his wife, Tori, are getting a mortgage-free smart home.

Rodney, of the Covington County Sheriff's Office, was shot during a traffic stop in Mount Olive, Mississippi on June 8th, when a passenger opened fire as deputies tried to detain two brothers following a pursuit. The bullet penetrated his spinal cord. Since then, he's documented his recovery from Shepherd Center in Atlanta, where doctors described his injury as incomplete, leaving open the possibility of recovery, though they told him the odds of walking again were extremely small. His message throughout has been filled with faith and one enormous prayer: "I believe I'll walk again... although it will take a miracle."

This weekend, during the New York Giants' home opener against the Dallas Cowboys, Yates and his family were brought onto the field. In front of a packed stadium, the announcement came over the speakers: the Tunnel to Towers Foundation would provide Yates and Tori with a mortgage-free smart home. Tunnel to Towers Chairman Frank Siller and two-time Super Bowl champion Justin Tuck were there to present the ceremonial key.

"With my injury and losing so much function of my body and me and Tori's lives being changed forever and turned completely upside down... just the generosity and how the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has treated us, it's just been mind blowing," Yates said. "They've treated us like we're blood relatives. They've literally changed our lives."

In July, Yates was in rehab, asking people to pray he'd walk again. Three months after the shooting, he's still working toward getting back as much function as he can, and he still doesn't know exactly what his future looks like. But now he and Tori know their home will be designed around whatever that future turns out to be, without a mortgage hanging over them while they figure it out.

Yates says the gift has only made him more determined. "It's been extremely motivating to continue my journey and getting better every single day and getting as much back as I can and to keep inspiring and to keep sharing my faith."

His prayer hasn't changed: pray for him to walk again. But a group of strangers just made sure that wherever this journey leads, he and Tori will have a home waiting for them.

What would you say to Yates as he keeps fighting toward the miracle he still believes is possible?

In two days, South Texas will say goodbye to a pregnant 23-year-old mother killed in a hit and run. The driver who struck her and her younger brother is still out there.

A week after Kimberly Nicole Varela was killed, her family will gather Saturday in Harlingen for the goodbye they never imagined having to plan.

According to Texas DPS, Kimberly and her 18-year-old brother were walking home along County Road 44 near FM 1694 in the Robstown area around 3:20 a.m. Saturday, after dropping off a vehicle nearby, when they were struck by a truck. Kimberly suffered significant injuries and later died at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline. Her brother was treated at the scene for a foot injury.

Kimberly was one month pregnant at the time.

Investigators need the public's help finding the driver. DPS believes the vehicle is a white Chevrolet Silverado, model years 2007 through 2013, and that it should now carry damage to the front end and a headlight. Someone may have noticed that damage suddenly appear on a truck. Someone may have seen something that morning, or know something that could give Kimberly's family answers.

While that search continues, her family is preparing to bury a daughter, sister, and young mother whose life was only beginning. According to a GoFundMe set up for the family, Kimberly leaves behind three children.

Family and friends will gather Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Home in Harlingen, with a prayer service that evening at 7.

Please share Kimberly's story. Pray for her children, for the baby their family was waiting to welcome, and for everyone preparing to say goodbye Saturday.

Someone out there may have the piece of information investigators need. If you have any details about the crash or the vehicle, please contact DPS Corpus Christi at 361-698-5600.

Seven years ago today, a mother was asked whether her family wanted a DNR for her 28-year-old son after doctors gave him what she remembers as just a 10% chance of surviving a ruptured brain aneurysm.

Her answer: "We didn't need to discuss that because Joseph wouldn't need it."

Six weeks later, Celeste says her son could have walked out of the hospital. Seven years later, Joseph Valle is still here.

Celeste first reached out in September 2019, when Joseph suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in San Antonio, Texas. He was on life support while his family waited and prayed for the swelling in his brain to subside. Her message then was simple: "Please add my 28 year old son, Joseph, to your prayers." Thousands did.

A month later came the update everyone hoped for: Joseph had survived and was already in rehabilitation. "Our God heard ALL prayers and healed my son," Celeste wrote at the time.

But the story took another frightening turn this year. Joseph's family learned the aneurysm had grown back. On March 16th, nearly seven years after that first rupture, he underwent another major brain surgery to have it clipped.

Yesterday marked exactly six months since that operation. Celeste's update: "He's doing great and still healing." Joseph is doing well enough that his next follow-up isn't until next spring.

It was today's date that brought the memories flooding back for her. Seven years since the rupture. Seven years since life support. Seven years since hearing "10% survival." Seven years since doctors asked her family to consider a DNR, and a mother refused to believe they'd need one. "Six weeks later he could have literally walked out of the hospital... LOOK AT GOD!"

Celeste also wanted people to know something else: she and Joseph never forgot the people who prayed for him. "We faithfully follow your page and pray for everyone you post about. We're also still so grateful to all your prayer warriors who kept Joseph in prayer." Today, the two of them are among the people praying for other families' children, parents, and spouses when their stories are shared here.

On the seventh anniversary of the day Celeste thought she might lose her son, let's make sure she sees that the same army is still here. Leave Joseph a message celebrating seven years of life since that rupture, and six months of healing since his latest surgery.

And Celeste, thank you for turning those prayers right back around to every family who's needed them since.

Anna is 9 today.

I've been sharing this incredible little girl for more than a year, and in that time we've watched her start third grade, become a star student, proudly show off her artwork, and discover a whole new confidence when she picked out her first wig.

Today, I just want us to celebrate her.

Anna lives with Harlequin ichthyosis, a rare genetic condition that severely affects her skin and requires constant care, including hours spent in a microsilk bath nearly every day. It's something she deals with every single day, but after following her this long, I hope her condition is no longer the first thing you see when you look at her. Because there is so much more to Anna.

Last June, her school recognized her as a star student after finishing third grade. We've watched her proudly show off her artwork. And earlier this year, her mom, Jennie, shared the emotional moment Anna tried on her first wig, a pink one named Kelsey, and immediately seemed to stand a little taller. "Her whole body changed, her face, her posture and demeanor," Jennie said. Anna grinned into the mirror and declared, "I dig the wig."

And through all of it, that unmistakable Anna smile.

Her family posted this morning: "Anna is 9 today! If you see her make sure you say happy birthday."

A lot of us won't see Anna in person today, but we can still make sure she feels celebrated. So let's show up for her again.

Happy 9th birthday, Anna! Anna loves reading the messages people leave for her, so tell her where you're wishing her a happy birthday from. She'd love to see just how far around the world people are celebrating with her today.

And Anna, after more than a year of watching you grow, smile, create, learn, and make your family proud, being 9 is going to look awfully good on you.

Happy Birthday, Star Student.

Newly released toxicology and coroner records are revealing disturbing new details about the final hours of 11-year-old Addilyn "Addi" Smith, who authorities say was killed by her mother inside a Las Vegas hotel room before her mother took her own life.

Addi and her mother, 34-year-old Tawnia McGeehan, had traveled from Utah to Las Vegas in February for a cheerleading competition with Utah Xtreme Cheer.

According to records from the Clark County Coroner's Office, multiple medications were found in Addi's system, including quetiapine, gabapentin, lorazepam, and diphenhydramine, along with caffeine. There were no medications in the room prescribed to Addi, and her father told investigators she had no known medical issues. McGeehan's toxicology results showed the same medications, along with a sedative, an antidepressant, and the presumptive detection of cannabinoids.

The drugs were not listed as the cause of either death. Both McGeehan and Addi died from gunshot wounds. Addi's death was ruled a homicide; McGeehan's was ruled a su***de.

Investigators say McGeehan left several handwritten notes behind. One was taped to a chair partially blocking the hotel room's entrance: "Call 911 before walking in. Two dead bodies and one is an 11-year-old." Another note, found on a desk, stated that Addi had been "very medicated" beforehand and had slept cuddled next to her mother. Investigators also said McGeehan deliberately left Addi's phone accessible so her photos and videos could be viewed.

The two arrived in Las Vegas on February 13th for the competition. When they didn't show up on the 15th, Addi's father and her coach were unable to reach them and requested a welfare check. Hotel security found McGeehan and Addi lying next to each other in bed. Addi was in pajamas, under a blanket, with a pillow bearing damage consistent with the gunshot found over her. A handgun was recovered on McGeehan's body. Investigators determined McGeehan shot her daughter before shooting herself.

Prescription bottles bearing McGeehan's name, an open package of THC gummies, and an over-the-counter sleep aid were found on a coffee table in the room.

Records also describe McGeehan's history of severe depression and prior suicidal thoughts, according to family members. Court documents reference a years-long custody dispute between McGeehan and Addi's father, Bradley Smith, following their 2015 divorce. Fox News additionally reported McGeehan had reportedly been receiving "mean" text messages from other cheer parents in the time before the trip.

Following Addi's death, Utah Xtreme Cheer remembered her as a deeply loved member of its cheer family.

A Florida woman has been arrested after her estranged husband alleged he discovered surveillance footage showing her engaging in sexual activity with the family dog.

Malia Elizabeth Nummerdor, 38, of Port Charlotte, was arrested September 15th and charged with sexual activity involving animals, a second-degree felony under Florida law.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, detectives opened an investigation on September 11th after learning of public Facebook posts from Nummerdor's estranged husband, Erik, alleging he'd found the footage and had photographic and video evidence. During a sworn interview, Erik told detectives he'd installed two surveillance cameras inside the home, including one in a bedroom, while trying to figure out who had been taking money from a coin container. He gave investigators access to his laptop containing the footage.

When detectives interviewed Malia Nummerdor on September 15th, she said Erik had installed the cameras without her knowledge and that the footage was from 2024. She acknowledged she was the person shown in the video and that the dog was hers, but denied any sexual contact, telling investigators she'd been lying with and petting her elderly dog near its bed. Investigators said her explanation of her and the dog's positioning didn't match what they observed in the recording. When detectives pressed further, she asked to leave and requested an attorney, ending the interview.

Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell didn't hold back in a statement following the arrest: "There are only a few times in my career that I have been at a loss for words. This is one of those times. I simply cannot comprehend this behavior. No animal should ever be subjected to this kind of conduct... And then to smile in the mugshot? I don't know what there is to smile about when you've been arrested for something as disgusting as this."

Nummerdor is being held at the Charlotte County Jail on $35,000 bond. The allegations remain unproven, and she is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in court.
