I need help ,,,disclaimer I know I have not helped my situation ….with that Said my girls and rooster. are four months old and they have never gone into their coop on their own at bedtime …when they were in their metal outdoor run. They would cuddle puddle by the door until I came out and scooted their butts into the chicken coop where I cuddled them for a bit before putting them to bed …now when they’re in their outdoor area, they will all cuddle puddle right here and wait for me to come out, pick them up and bring them into the coop to put them to bed. I’ve tried leaving them out a little bit longer, but I definitely don’t wanna leave them out too long and run the risk of an animal coming into my yard and hurting them. I usually pick them all up and carry them in …..but for the last few weeks, I have been bringing just my rooster into the chicken coop and the calling the girls in and usually I just wind up having to go out and pick the girls up and bring them in. I’ve tried shutting all my backyard lights and putting a nightlight in their coop. I’ve tried shutting out all the lights. I just don’t know what I can do to get them to go in the coop on their own.

Just did my routine this morning of letting my 17 girls out of the coop. Went to scoop p**p and look what one of my beautiful chickens did. Lmao. I cried like a baby! 1st butt nugget. Its not even small like i thought it would be! I'm so proud ❤️❤️❤️. 1st time chicken owner too. My husband read someone you can't eat them at first, said we had to wait? What's everyone opinions? Im just so darn excited all the hard work produced something. Haha

Dot is very mad at me. I took her fake babies away. Then tossed raw meat and cereal out for her sisters as soon as she decided to go investigate. I shut the gate behind her, and now she can't get into the coop & nesting area.

She is now yelling at me and walking in circles like oh no her babies are going to die.
Dot you can't have babies without a Roo, you expecialy cannot get hatch wooden eggs.

I'm keeping the coop & nesting area gate shut for the day. They have the water hose running in a nice Shady spot so it's going to be nice and cool water in a large yard to roam and they had aprox 2lb of meat between the four of them. I think the girls expecialy Dot will be just fine in the yard for the day.
