Since the Lakers–Wiggins scenario has cooled off in recent days, the team might want to consider another wing to pair with Luka and LeBron. And the answer might not be too far away.

Enter Quentin Grimes.

Grimes once played alongside Luka in Dallas and has shown flashes of strong offensive ability, including multiple high-scoring performances last season.

With reports suggesting that the Sixers and Grimes are “very far” from reaching a new deal, this could be the perfect opportunity for the Lakers to make a move.

A solid scorer who can defend positions 1 through 3, Grimes checks a lot of boxes.

But here’s the catch... Grimes’ camp is reportedly seeking around $25M annually, which means the Lakers may need to clear some space if they want to secure him long term. A one-year “prove-it” deal wouldn’t hurt, but nothing is guaranteed.

Still, if the Lakers are serious about adding another wing, Quentin might just be the right guy.💯

Deandre Ayton shows why he was no.1 draft pick in 2018, Smart & Vando's elite defense turns the Lakers into a powerhouse.

Result: Lakers win 55+ games and win the franchise’s 18th Championship in 2026.

🔹 Nightmare:

LeBron’s “Father Time” finally arrives, and Austin Reaves gets exposed in a bigger role.

Ayton, Smart, and Laravia, all of these new signings flop, and injuries to key players derail depth and chemistry.

Outcome: a crushing playoff exit in the 1st round again, another year of LeBron’s career gone, and he leaves next season off-season.

🔹 Realistic:

Luka and LeBron both make All-NBA teams, carrying the offense.

The Lakers are a Top-10 offensive team, but lingering defensive problems hold them back.

Result: around 50+ wins and a playoff spot…but not a true title contender, and probably lose to Nuggets, Thunder, or Timberwolves.

Carmelo Anthony has no doubts about which season stands out most in his Hall of Fame career, and it might surprise some fans.

“In all honesty, my best year that I’ve ever had was with the Lakers,” Melo said. “When you look at the numbers and the efficiency and field goal percent, we’re in a game of numbers now and analytics, so if you look at analytics, the Lakers’ year was one of my best years out of 19 seasons.”

It wasn’t his highest-scoring campaign or one that ended with a deep playoff run, but for Melo, the 2021-22 season in Los Angeles represented a new version of himself.
