This is celebrating 16 years and 3 days. Disco Fever (and hopefully not Omicrom) was in the house, along with and a few Covid free friends.
Raya, you’re thriving and jiving and making the most of these weird times. Even through the eye rolls, the occasional jive talk, even though your room always looks like the day AFTER the “after party”, and you throw whatever you borrowed from my closet on the bathroom floor, we can see the strong, beautiful, kick ass woman you’re becoming. Work hard, stay creative, keep singing and stay weird. Happy Birthday! You’ll always be our star! We love you!!

👁 👁Since March, the household rule is that we have to spend an hour a day doing something creative. So we decided to set up our own photo shoot and had a blast doing it. No lights, no equipment, no catering, just us.

So far 2020 has been…well, I’m not going there for this.
I have been able to spend A LOT of time with my daughter – pretty much 24/7 for the last 75 days. Every weekday morning, she has gotten herself up, made herself breakfast, gotten dressed in ACTUAL clothes, put on some mascara and lip gloss, did her hair, and sat at the dining room table and tackled her school work. Well maybe tackled isn’t the right word, sometimes she was in it to win it and sometimes she was on the bench, drinking a Slurpee for the entire game. Regardless, she showed up on time, looking more put together than I have EVER looked during lockdown and got it all done. Yesterday, from the comfort of our very own sofa, we got to watch her see her own photo on the TV celebrating her 8th grade graduation. She was wearing a dress and I was in my PJ’s.

Raya, you’re officially a high schooler! I hope that the world rights itself soon so that you can actually participate in the ups and downs of the normal high school experience – you know, cheer from the bleachers, hug your friends, sit at a school desk waiting anxiously for that 3 o’clock bell to ring. And if for some weird reason the locusts and murder hornets take over and we can’t leave our homes ever again, we still will always be rooting for you 24/7!

The world is falling apart and we are literally on a raft made of paper and tape in the middle of a Category 5 hurricane . The so-called captain has never been on a boat before and is cowering under the covers in his bunker cabin.
