Solar Eclipse 2024 as from the Ladera Heights section of Los Angeles County adjacent to Los Angeles City. I enjoyed shooting the 2024 solar Eclipse. But because of the location on the West Coast. We only got to see a portion of it. In my location, it took about two hours and 15 minutes for the Moon to pass across the front of the sun and clear it. Now I’m going to explain to you why I was in so much pain shooting the solar eclipse. Sunday morning, which was yesterday, I was preparing to go spend 5 hours as a bodyguard at perhaps the most famous church in Los Angeles CA. First AME Better known as FAME and now FAME-US. As I was putting on my cowboy boots, which are part of my brand. Because I have a growth on the side of my foot as part of a medical condition that will be taken care of in May. It was difficult to pull the boots on.

Because they are expensive boots and expensive boots wear lot tighter than cheap boots. As I was straining to pull the boot up over the knot on the side of my foot, I felt a muscle pull in my back, ouch and ha at the same time! So, this morning when I got up it was extremely sore, and it is as I write this post. Some of you will say that's what happens when you start to get old. Some of you will say, why don't you put on regular shoes? And I will say I'm a cowboy and I will continue to wear cowboy boots as long as I can, ha! The thing is, once I have the surgery, I will have to wear low cut shoes. Except if I can get past my manager and my career consultant, and put on my cowboy boots ha, ha!😂😂⏳

A life based on the belief that God can make the impossible possible!

I woke up this morning to the news that another legend, Harry Belafonte, had transitioned. He not only was a legend as an actor but a man who stood up for what was right regarding black American's civil rights. While others were being cautious to protect their careers, he was laying it all on the line. He provided money and shelter for Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement. And didn't back down when he was questioned regarding his beliefs.

I had an opportunity about 30 years ago to go cover him at a press conference in Pasadena, CA. As I looked around the room at mainly white reporters and photographers. Who took it for granted that they were there. I, as a black photojournalist, couldn't take it for granted. And I was grateful to be in the room with someone who was willing to lay it all on the line so that I, as a black American, could have opportunities to participate equally.

I started this post by saying “a life based on the belief that God can make the impossible possible”. That is because when I dreamed my dreams because of where I was born and raised, they seemed like impossible dreams. Many told me that it wasn't possible that a little black boy born in the basement of a racially segregated hospital. To an u***d mother and alcoholic father could accomplish what I dreamed of accomplishing.

However, I didn't put my faith and fate in what people said I could or couldn't do. I put my faith and fate in what God said I could do. And as a young boy growing up in Graves County, Kentucky. I saw men like Harry Belafonte and dreamed of being where they were one day and meeting them. I didn't just dream I worked toward it and believed that God could make it possible. And I never wavered in the belief that God could make it possible.

The day that I met Harry Belafonte and captured images of him. And many times, since that time, God has shown me that he has the final say so! I’m grateful I had the opportunity to meet and capture images of Harry Belafonte. I'm even more grateful that the God I serve is a faithful God to those that are faithful to him!

It is my honor to share with you some images from the 2023 NCAA National Championship football game at So-FI stadium and Inglewood CA, Monday night, January 9th. I hope you enjoy them and so you know, I'm working with the next generation of black photojournalists and sports photographers at HBCU colleges. I have a young man at ASU who has a strong desire and is becoming a really good sports shooter. George Bush in 1990 in Los Angeles to award 1000 Points of Light award.
It's not about whether you like the person the person's moral position political position humanitarian position or any other position. It's about capturing the image of the newsmaker and the event as truthfully and accurately as possible. To give the American people the information they need to make an informed assessment of the events that matter to them. It is also about being there to capture the images. So that those who have an ulterior motive cannot distort or take out of context what the image really was about or the story without being held accountable!

Stevie Wonder performed at the inauguration of Mayor Karen Bass. It was a historical day for the city of Los Angeles “The City of Angels”. Because this is a very special occasion, we will make a few images available to the public. With the proceeds from those images used to teach a new generation of Black photojournalists.

Tonight's Eclipse of the cold moon passing between the earth and Mars is now complete. You can see the Red Planet as Mars is called to the top right of the Moon after having emerged from behind it. The Eclipse took just over an hour to complete. And when you look at Mars, it does appear to be red.

Sometimes we talk about a lot of bodies flying around. This weekend in the USC Notre Dame game. I saw a lot of young men doing acrobatic jumps. So, I'm going to share several with you. I hope you enjoy them and will appreciate the athletic ability of these talented athletes.
