Coming up for air to share that the feature film I directed this summer has been officially selected for the Pan African Film Festival next month. Still wrapping my head around that.
On Paper is the creation of producing duo Jaq and Bankole, who trusted me with their vision. Outside Studios showed up in a big way to help bring this film to life, with Wallace and one of the film’s co-producers helping carry it across the finish line.
To my incredible behind-the-scenes team: Chris Beal, Maureen Motley, Aura Meza, and Ivy, this film does not exist without you. Truly. Thank you.
To my cast: thank you for fully stepping into your roles and coming out to play. We’re so lucky to get to do what we’ve dreamed of, and I hope you had as much fun as I did on set. I’m incredibly proud of what we made together and grateful to finally work with artists I’ve known for years, as well as meet new talent who brought even more life to this story.
And to my crew: THANK YOU. You showed up and showed out. Every pivot, every problem solved, every long day is on the screen. Special thanks to Eduardo Ramirez-Gonzalez for your eye, your generosity, and your knowledge. I learned so much from you, and I already know this won’t be our last one.
