10 years of TOO LATE. 🎞️

A decade after its release, Dennis Hauck’s 35mm LA noir returned to the big screen at Beyond Fest last night for a special anniversary screening at the Aero.

Dennis Hauck and John Hawkes reunited for the occasion, joined by producer and Vanishing Angle president Matt Miller, with a live musical performance and Q&A following the film.

Shot on 35mm in five unbroken 22-minute takes, TOO LATE was an ambitious experiment from the start, and we’re incredibly proud to see it back on the big screen ten years later.

Thank you Beyond Fest and everyone who came out to celebrate a decade of TOO LATE.

Congratulations to Alex Chew, whose short film BLUEGRASS RADIO won the Vanishing Angle Post Grant this year! We’ve loved helping her bring the film across the finish line. It’s almost ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it!

Alex Chew is a screenwriter, filmmaker, Black Auteur Film Festival director, and executive producer at Sequence 8 films. Her screenplays have been shortlisted at Nicholl, Austin Film Festival, CBS Mentoring Program, Cinestory, Launchpad, Screencraft, WeScreenplay, and Stage32. Her shorts have been selected for the Academy Award qualifying Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, Denton Black Film Festival, Film Quest, Sidewalk, Julien Dubuque, Waco, San Antonio, Phoenix, Rome International, Babefest, Twelve Lions, Portland Horror, Austin Comedy, and more. She is also a two-time Austin Film Festival Panelist, Austin Film Society Short Film Grantee, City of Austin Elevate Grantee, Black Art Matters Grantee, and was selected for the prestigious Austin Film Society Artist Intensive. Currently, she is in development with several twisty genre features about badass Southern Black women, including an adaption of the novel Delta, with her literary manager Anastasiya Kukhtareva at Wildflower.

Producer, director, writer, creative force, fearless problem solver, champion of filmmakers, and somehow about a hundred other things on any given day, Natalie is at the heart of so much of what we do at Vanishing Angle.

Her tireless drive, creativity, leadership, and genuine love of filmmaking make our movies better and our company better. We’re incredibly lucky to have her, and very happy to celebrate her today.
