The Story of Altaview
Gilbert Martinez, Andre Soto, and Alex Terrazas have known each other for over 20 years. Growing up in the sprawl of Los Angeles County they were brought together through school and an inescapable network of friends & acquaintances connected through the City of Whittier. They eventually migrated out of suburbia and made their way to the eastside of Los Angeles over the last decade and a half.
Each have their own view on film making and how they approach it. Soto, having lived in eight different cities in & around Los Angeles, knows the town like a Chicano Chandler or Bukowski. He also happens to be the bassist for local metal legends, CROM. Martinez, a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West, has been performing around LA for the last 17 years, as well as making his living at 5 different bookstores in the area. Terrazas is the grinding professional, a cameraman/producer who is ready to run & gun and has for a number of productions including the hit Discovery channel show Alaskan Bush People.
Together their goal is to create the stories they’ve seen their whole lives, but have not seen reflected back by the culture at large. Stories of multi-generation Mexican-Americans who are not easily defined by stereotypes, of living in diverse neighborhoods both racially & economically, and of humans who just happen to look like them and their friends & families.
