This one was hard to make. But it needs to be seen.

I sat down with Michael Chernow on Soft White Underbelly to talk about something most men NEVER talk about — being victims of child sexual abuse.

Both of us. Survivors. And for years, we carried it in silence like so many men do.

Here’s the truth: PED0PHILES are counting on our silence. They thrive in the shadows of shame. And every time a man stays quiet about what happened to him, another kid out there stays unprotected.

We’re breaking that silence. 🗣️

This video is for two people:

👨‍👩‍👧 PARENTS — please watch. Learn the signs. Know who’s around your kids. The predators aren’t strangers in vans, they’re often the people closest to your family. Awareness protects children.

👨 MEN who were abused — you are not alone. What happened to you was NOT your fault. You are not weak. You are not less of a man. Healing is possible. Your story matters. And speaking it out loud is the first crack in the prison wall. 🙏

Your partner’s insecurity is not an argument you can win. 🙅

You will never logic somebody out of a fear they learned long before they met you.

So stop trying to prove your innocence. Start trying to understand the fear. 👀

Here’s what actually works:

Don’t say “you’re overthinking.” Say “tell me what you’re scared of.” One shuts them down. The other opens a door. 🚪

Don’t get defensive. To a nervous system already expecting betrayal, defensiveness looks exactly like guilt. Stay calm even when it isn’t fair. 🧘

Be predictable. Do what you said you’d do. Come back when you said you’d come back. Boring consistency is the medicine. 🩹

And reassure them WITHOUT resentment. If you sigh every time they need comfort, you’re teaching them their needs are a burden. 💔

But here’s the part nobody says out loud:

Don’t become their entire sense of worth. If you’re the only thing standing between them and self-hatred, that’s not a relationship — that’s life support. And eventually you both drown. ⚠️

You can be safe. You can be patient. You can be steady.

You cannot be their partner, their therapist, and their proof all at the same time. 💪

At some point they have to pick up their own work.

Support the healing. Don’t perform it for them. 💜

B**M — when practiced professionally and safely — can actually be a therapeutic tool for certain individuals healing from specific traumas. 💜

I’m speaking from a CLINICAL standpoint. As a counselor. Based on work with a handful of clients where this came up. This is NOT for everybody. This is a nuanced clinical observation. 🙏

For some trauma survivors, a consensual and controlled environment — where THEY set every limit and every safe word — can be a way to reclaim agency over a body that was once violated. The intense focus creates presence that pulls people out of dissociation. The aftercare mirrors the safe nurturing many never received as kids. And the consent culture teaches what healthy boundaries actually look like. 💜

But this ONLY works when:

🚨 It’s with a trained, ethical practitioner
🚨 The person is ALREADY in therapy
🚨 There are strict safety protocols and aftercare
🚨 It’s not being used to self-punish or reenact abuse

Done wrong — with the wrong people, no professional support — it can absolutely re-traumatize somebody. That’s why nobody should try this as a “healing tool” without proper clinical guidance. 💔

I’m not telling anybody to do this. I’m saying that as a clinician, I’ve watched it be part of some people’s healing when approached correctly. Truth is more useful than shame when we’re trying to help people heal. 🕊️

Healing looks different for every human. Safety, consent, and support are what matter. 💜
