Aloha! What a week! 🎬✨

Laid down the architecture for my new script, tentatively titled The Dirt Road Girls. 74 pages in—the beams are set, and this week I start hanging the drywall! 🛠️

Just dropped my application to Film Independent into the Universe. Send all the good juju! ✨ Gave the website a facelift (it’s looking so good), set up a Stage 32 profile, and did a deep dive into local film grants... which turned out to be a total bust. But hey, trusting the process!

Ended the week at the county fair with Daniel. So much fun—and yes, slide 4 features the absolute stars of the poultry barn: Chic Filet and KFC. 🐔

🍹23 days without alcohol, and the mirror is showing a difference! ✨

I was never a heavy drinker, but I was a consistent one—every day. 🤣 My face is losing it puff!

I sent out my five cold queries for The King’s Basketball—and got a request for the full script from Zero Gravity Management! 🙏😱 Release form signed, script sent. Is it a long shot? Of course. But the confidence boost of knowing the material stood out on is huge.

And because the first thing a manager asks is “What else do you have?”, I’m already deep into the Blake Snyder beat board for project #2—tentatively titled The Dirt Road Girls, adapted from the second essay in my book Shelter in Motion:

Rounding out the week: my bestie and I hung out, and had the best time—which was the ultimate distraction while missing my Sweet Kiwi Man so much. 💋

Celebrated these milestones with a mocktail at Lola’s in The National Exchange Hotel Exchange—if you ever get here—-ask for Tomy , he’s awesome !! 🥂✨

I was working on my script, minding my own business, when Chris called and said, “I mailed you something and just got a text that it was delivered. Can you go check?”

So up I went and found HIM standing there.

After almost four long months apart, he flew down to surprise me for the next four days. I can’t even express the pure, undiluted joy in my heart right now.

Laptop closed. Script on pause. Heart completely full. ❤️

Yesterday, we went to our first Coffee & Cars. I didn’t know it was a hot rod takeover, meaning Buster was the solo VW representing the slow-and-steady lifestyle. He took it in stride—pure charm among the muscle cars. 😎

Then today, he officially entered the gig economy. 🚌💼 Buster is now signed up with a couple of prop house sites for indie films and photo shoots. Watch out, Hollywood, the bus has an agent now.

I secured a one-year festival license for Sly and the Family Stone’s “Everyday People”-for my feature film script.🙌🏼

This track is the heartbeat of a major scene. There were many other ideas that were out of my reach and then it hit me!💸

I pitched with a one-sentence scene breakdown and my logline. They asked to read the pages, loved them, and granted the license with an MFN clause for an absolute steal. Lesson learned: Never be afraid to ask big. 🥂
