Frank Sinatra (b. 12th December 1915)

Pictured, Sinatra after the recording session for "The Man with the Golden Arm." Photographer Bob Willoughby coaxed Frank to pose for a handful of color portraits on a park bench just outside of the recording studio, 1955. As Bob recalled years later, “He was still in a happy and relaxed mood, as the session had gone well. He posed for a few minutes, gave me a wink and then was gone.”

The film culminates with the news that Pearl Harbor has been bombed in a sneak attack.

Johnny Carson would have turned 100 years old today. To call him the 'King of Late Night' or a 'national institution' diminishes what he really was - which for anyone who ever watched "The Tonight Show" already knows - the absolute greatest.

"First of all, she has flawless instincts. She is very lucky. She's a very gifted person. She was very beautiful. She could sing, she could dance, she could draw, she could paint, she could take photographs. She could act. I mean, she had so much talent. And quite good in every department. And she was an eccentric dresser. And wonderfully funny. Very much her own person."

November 17th will mark 100 years since a child named Roy Harold Scherer Jr. was born in Winnetka, Illinois. It would be talent scout Henry Willson though who would help create the movie star and name we all know today: Rock Hudson. 'Hudson,' Willson would get from an auto ad he had seen, and 'Rock' was chosen from a list of nine, which included 'Lance' and 'Dirk.' It was initially spelled 'Roc,' after the mythical bird, but the 'k' would be added later to make it sound tougher and more masculine.

In a recent Q&A session at Comic Con, Dan Aykroyd spoke of his relationship with Carrie Fisher:

"She was a committed professional and one of the wittiest people you could ever meet. To me, she was a loving person. I mean, we almost got married. We got blood tests and everything. We had a beautiful romance, but that ended when the movie ended. Then she went back to Paul Simon."

Our Story

When you think of some of the 20th century's most iconic images, such as

Elvis Presley reaching down to grasp the outstretched arms of his hometown Tupelo, Mississippi fans on an October afternoon in 1956;

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and a pack of 9 other men gathered around a pool table in 1960 during the making of a film called "Ocean's 11”;

Sophia Loren, newly arrived to Hollywood, casting a downward side-glance at Jayne Mansfield's ample bosom during a 1957 party at Mike Romanoff's eponymous restaurant;
