🤔 What's the recent history on regime change?

After 9/11, the George W Bush Administration oversaw a global reach operation that directly sought regime change in 2 countries. Everyone was cool with Afghanistan then - not everyone was in agreement on Iraq (Hillary Clinton voted for).

They tortured detainees and millions of civilians that were nowhere near or affiliated with Osama Bin Laden were killed or displaced..

Barack Obama's Administration took a different approach called the "Arab Spring". I know it might be a shock to you to realize that millions of uneducated and undernourished people throughout the middle east were NOT AT ALL capable of regime change, by themselves against brutal dictators on their best day.

The Arab Spring was a CIA lead operation that displaced and lead to the death of millions and sought regime change.

While confidence is low that the aftermath of extracting Maduro will lead to any immediate improvement for the lives of scattered Venezuelans. With the exception of the drug boat attacks there were almost no casualties and so far no more incursions.

If you only believe what your party tells you and find yourself on a streetcorner protesting or cheering, take a pause for reflection on this situation and historical precedent.

The only place to find anyone rational right now is in between hope and concern because things may stabilize but are likely to spiral out of control because they usually do - but not always.

A Word on Boat Strikes

There is nothing about these boat strikes, and the reasons given by the Administration behind their targeting to back their decision making to kill people.on a boat and then publicize their deaths with the video - that even remotely makes sense.

FACT - Venezuela, for all of its ills, is no where near being a top or even merely significant contributor to drug sales in the United States. So why them and not Mexico or places where the rampant trafficking of narcotics and people is actually a problem?

The only explanations that make sense are either something classified and of greater significance which would give the Administration the benefit of the doubt (and why do that for any regime anymore), or regime change which makes more sense comprehensively on several levels.

It is uncharacteristically strange to derive this propaganda tool as though its some kind of positive. It's macabre and not my practice to ever celebrate death, murder or whatever you want to call it, even when it seems most justified.

It is likely this is something that we have probably done often as a nation, but under the classified tent of covert operations. Puting it on public display is strange and it feels as though there is so much missing in between what motivated the start of this campaign and these s***f films we seem to be receiving at regular intervals.

What is on the table here is obvious - oil and other natural resources, a weakened regime incapable.of really waging any kind of war as it can barely protect itself and a belt way full of representative dissident groups chomping at the bit for regime change.

Groups like ousted corporate interests, Cuban and Venezuelan dissidents and to be fair a regime in the White House that probably eyes the opportunity to use it to reverse immigration trends from the region.

There is something exceptionally unsettling about the nature of how these Venezuala strikes are being conducted and publicized by the White House and DoD.
