Little Joe - "A La Guerra Me Llevan"

As I was enjoying my morning coffee, the King of the Brown Sound came on my playlist and made me think of my father. It's only recently that I began having conversations with him about his time in Vietnam.

This man did 3 tours in Vietnam... Yes... 3. While he and several of my uncles were young men all of 19, patrolling in the jungle, back here at home, the legendary Little Joe took the time to express the words they all felt. I can only imagine my dad saying these words to my grandmother when leaving home in this beautiful and relevant song.

Decided I would share it for all of the Veterans in my life past and present. This song is my salute to my father Manuel Moreno Sr, my uncles and ALL of the brave Mexican Americans who have proudly served this country despite their treatment in it through history.

Welcome home Dad... You'll always be my hero.

One the things I love about being a producer in LA is the diversity of all of the artists I work with. A few days ago, I had a client who was 40 years old. I am 43.

At our age, we start to hear voices trying to tell us its too late. Music is a young man's game and only the young hip hop kids are making it. DON'T LISTEN TO THOSE VOICES!

If you are worried that you are too old to do music, then I want to introduce you to Pete and Bas.

These guys are well into their 70's and built their music career in just a few years. Did I mention that they do HIP-HOP music? They have almost 300 thousand followers on IG, they tour, collaborate with other big names and are KILLING IT on YouTube.

These guys are living proof that it is NEVER TOO LATE and you are never too old to pursue something you love. When you are an independent Artist, you've never "missed your shot". You only miss it if you don't shoot at all. That would be a tragedy.

Go release that song, book that show, record that song you wrote and GET STARTED!
