"We want to give the model a chance to work with brands he or she believes in, and for the companies to hire someone who will be a positive advocate for their brand." Valerie and Therese, co-founders of Role Models, were introduced to each other when a common friend learned that they shared the same dream about starting an ethical modeling agency. One phone call later and it was clear – it was time for Role Models to finally come to life.

“Since we’re both models having been introduced to the world of fashion and marketing, we’ve both faced the part of the industry where you as a model have nothing to say besides show up and do what you’re told. At times we found ourselves going out for auditions and taking jobs we did not agree with due to lack of information, or the need to “take whatever you get” since the career as a model can be short-lived.”

The fashion industry (among many others) often times come with unethical and unsustainable values that neither of us stand for, and in those moments we thought – wouldn’t it be a great idea if we felt like we had an ability to choose?
