My husband has asked me to post this in here. We are renovating our new (to us) house. I have been putting the outlet covers back on after painting, ensuring all the screws are facing one direction. He then tells me that he went through the kitchen and “fixed” the screws. What do you mean, fixed? He explained which direction they’re “supposed” to be in. So we are turning to fellow dullsters as I feel going through the house and turning screws to all face the same direction is a dull task. The directions for the screws to face that I chose and he chose have been omitted to reduce any bias. The question we now have is - what direction is the “right” direction for the screws of outlet covers?

What are your thoughts on these "food rules" at a Cracker Barrel? The bag check and the no outside food allowed seems a bit extreme to me.

So, I went to Longhorn Steakhouse last night for a date.
Everything was going fine — at least in my opinion — until the tip part came.
When the waiter brought my ticket, she looked at me and said,
“Oh honey, he was really good to us. Please tip him good.”
I don’t think she caught it, but I gave her a look like, who TF are you talking to?
Anyway, I tipped the lowest suggested restaurant tip — $17.25.
Then she taps my hand with her finger and says,
“Why are you tipping him so low? He did a great job. Give him the highest tip value. You owe that to him. At least give him $10 in cash too, sweetie.”
At that point I was irritated, but I stayed calm and told her,
“You didn’t have to pay for anything. I let you order whatever you wanted, regardless of price — your part of the bill was $70, mine was only about $20 — and now you’re telling me how to tip? You sound crazier than a Bessie Bug! On top of that, I normally do a meet-and-greet before planning a first date. I didn’t do that with you. I tried to change things up this time… and here we are!”
She reaches in her purse, pulls out $10, slaps it on the table, and leaves.
I just sat there — we drove separately, and I was waiting on a to-go box. About fifteen minutes later, she texts me saying,
“You’re cheap. Lose my number.”
I texted back,
“That’s why you’re single now. Walking around with that stank, uppity, bougie attitude.”
Moral of the story:
Fellas, always do a meet-and-greet before planning a first date.
It’ll save you money — and a headache.

Bought a bag of “steak bites” type beef jerky and there was a perfectly round hole in multiple pieces. Assuming it’s a hole left behind by some sort of hook type device for drying but this discovery shook up the dullest of days, so I had to share. No banana available at the hardware store for scale. Size 12EE boot.

Neighbor drills through our shared wall to secure a fence without asking. Then wants us to bolt the bottom because he couldn't reach it.
I'm honestly at a loss for words right now. We've been dealing with neighbor issues for months, but this takes the cake.
Last week, our neighbor decided he needed to secure his new fence panel to our shared block wall. Did he knock on our door to ask permission? Did he mention this plan when we saw him at the mailbox? Nope. We came home from work to find he'd drilled multiple holes through OUR side of the wall and bolted his fence to it.
When my husband went over to ask what was going on, the neighbor acted like we were being unreasonable for questioning it. "It's just a few holes," he said. "The fence needed to be secured."

I found this in my 9-year-old daughter's drawer near her record player. I can't figure out why the bottom of her candle-lighting lighter is all black like this on the bottom. She says she's the only person who uses the lighter. Can anyone shed some light on what's happening?

My heart honestly shattered. My son and I worked on this little woodland scene for like a whole week, every evening after school, when he was already half-asleep but still wouldn’t stop until he got the moss just right or found the perfect spot for the owl.
He came up with the whole idea himself. Said, “Dad, it’s like a secret home inside the forest.” He sculpted the hedgehog, placed the tiny pinecones, carved that little log with his hands (well, mostly supervised, but still). He poured everything into it.
And then he came home, eyes red, holding his piece like it was broken glass. “I spent a lot of time sculpting, but no one appreciated it,” he said. The other kids laughed. Even the teacher didn’t say a word. Just moved on.
I wanted to march into that school and tell them all, LOOK. LOOK AT THIS. THIS IS ART. But instead, I just hugged him and said, “You know what? Let’s show it to people who do appreciate creativity.”
So we posted it in my little craft store on the Tedooo app, I’ve been selling there for a bit, but this was his first piece. And you wouldn’t believe what happened. People started commenting. Encouraging. One guy from Oregon asked if my son does commissions. Another from the UK said it reminded them of their childhood forest.
I didn’t let him sell it, of course. This one stays with us forever. But now he walks a little taller. Because someone did see the magic.
If you’ve got a kid who creates things, protect that spark with everything you've got. This world doesn’t always understand, but there are places, and people, and moments that do.....,,,,

One of these days I will own my own shop, and everyone that does this is either getting fired, or I will dock their pay to replace the wheel.
Edit: we have a tungsten grinder, no one will use it. This wheel was replaced last week and it already has this large groove in it. The company won’t provide a dresser, and I am over trying to take care of company equipment, just for someone else to mess it up.
