Look what jumped into the back of my car and followed me home! I've been selling my eggs as fast as they lay them just enough for my regulars, but not enough for a random drive by stop. Have 26 layers but they have been only giving me between 16-20 and day, really need about 24+ a day to be happy. Picked up an additional 4 RIR'S 1 golden comet and 1 Easter eager, she'll give me a blueish egg. Hoping to meet my quota now.

I thought it would be a fun idea to share some pictures of my baby silkie chick Tiramisu, him/her is a 2 mouth old paint silkie! Look at that pattern I have never seen a silkie or any kind of chicken with half black & half white! I hatched this guy at my homestead & his parents are a standard black silkie & a paint silkie!🥰

These are guinea fowl right?? There was a new guy at the chick section that gave them to me for a dollar each😅😅

This is why you need to have hardware cloth under the coop. Never know when but something will always try to get in.

How should I clean these eggs I got from a neighbor?
One of my neighbors has chickens and sells the eggs. I got a dozen for the first time today and some of the eggs are visibly dirty. I understand chickens p**p etc. I’ve heard mixed things on washing fresh eggs. Do I do it now or do I really wash the eggs right before use? I’ll probably go through a carton in a week.

Someone dumped a rooster on my property - can anyone tell if this is from an injury or some type of illness/condition ?.
It took me a WEEK to catch this guy ! He’s very sweet but looks super beat up, missing a piece of his top beak, but can anyone tell me what’s going on with his tail or how to treat it? Also if anyone knows what breed he is I’m interested to hear that as well!

A sad day. Our geese killed one of our chickens.
We raised our cute little flock of six chickens with our two geese in relative coexistence until today. Our geese teamed up on one of our Brahma chickens and killed her. We think that they broken her neck or back. We are somewhat lost for what to do next. We love our chickens and our geese, and they've always shared a very large coop (a converted shed) and run. I'd appreciate condolences and advice.

My boyfriend made me an amazing coop, an awesome roosting bar with easy to clean s**t shelf and yet this is where my chickens choose to roost for the night 😆
