On the surface may seem unfair, but when you realize the amount of precautions that working sets have to make to operate safely, it makes more sense.

"Most government officials maintain that comparing film production to other industries, like the restaurant business, is apples and oranges. “We are not a bar where everybody sits around with their masks off,” says Momita Sengupta, Netflix’s vp physical production. She and others contend that film and TV sets are highly controlled, closed-off environments thanks to the strict protocols created by studios, guilds and top epidemiologists. Sets require frequent testing, ample personal protective equipment and contact tracing when positive tests inevitably arise. “It’s not a public-facing industry, and there are low transmission rates on set,” says a California government source of the film business’ ability to stay up and running."

Sixty-five percent of 13-34 year olds think stories about athletes are more interesting that the actual games they play, and 75% like to learn about lives of athletes outside of sports, according to Whistle Wise report, “A New Age in Sports Consumption.” Other key findings include:
• Less than 2 in 5 Gen Zers watches more live sports than their parents.
Millennial males are 77% more likely to consume sports related content on cable TV than Gen Z males.
• 65% of Gen Z males consume sports content on social media.
• Showing athletes in a positive and fun format is more interesting to young fans than drama or scandal.

"There’s a fine line between having a brand and being redundant. Traditional TV networks tend to err on the conservative side of this divide. But even then, there’s still a basic imperative to keep an audience both broad and engaged with a sense of variety.

"Apple isn’t selling as many iPhones or devices as it once was; creating a service-based ecosystem that drives revenue every single month is where Apple is pouring its investments. CEO Tim Cook also hasn’t shied away from noting how important Apple’s services division is.

Cook and his company have investors’ attention with the pivot. They also have consumers’ curiosity. What they still need is people’s dollars. In order for Apple TV Plus to be an option, even as part of a bundle that brings people in, Apple TV Plus has to actually offer something worth buying.

Originals aren’t enough. Apple needs a catalog of titles to keep people streaming. As AT&T CEO John Stankey said about HBO Max on his company’s recent earnings call, it’s original titles that lead to customer acquisition, but strong libraries that will keep them streaming."
