Itā€™s not really a secret that I like Pinterest for myself, my students & clients.

I know Iā€™m not the only business owner to rave about the platform of my choice... I may be a little biased.

But I also know that Iā€™m not the only business owner who struggles with getting website traffic, leads and sales in my business.

This is why I use SEO driven platforms as my primary source to feed my business.

My main traffic sources are:

šŸ“£ Google Organic Search
šŸ“£ Pinterest
šŸ“£ Referrals
šŸ“£ Instagram

Sometimes I do use paid ads too but itā€™s not a regular part of my strategy.

Here's what you need to know:

ā„¹ļø Create custom UTM codes for the products you want to sell
ā„¹ļø OR create a special link you only use for the campaign
ā„¹ļø Run a consideration campaign with keywords & interests to bring in a new cold audience

This is getting accounts marked as spam and they are losing appeals to get them back. Donā€™t do this. A big Etsy teacher is teaching this and weā€™re just not going to take that advice anymore.

šŸš® Just posting products that are ā€œhighly convertingā€ from your catalog and never making actual Pinterest pins that link back to that listing.

I mean itā€™s the same person as the above giving this advice so letā€™s just not. Make actual Pinterest pins please, your pinners will thank you.

šŸš® Group Boards

I honestly cannot believe I still have to say this in 2023 but Iā€™m getting messages and comments about it again so here it isā€¦ stop using group boards that arenā€™t optimized for the platform that are also a massive catch all for niches. Just stop.

šŸš® 80% free content / 20% paid content

There isnā€™t a black and white here. If youā€™re an e-commerce seller especially & taking this advice youā€™re going to burn out fast. Just go with the flow. Hereā€™s my ideal weekly posting rhythm right now:

šŸŒ„ 1 paid product per day
šŸŒ¤ 1 free lead magnet per day
ā˜€ļø 1 free blog post per day

But I am not you and you are not me so just pin your content already.

šŸš® Just run ads everyday for $5 to your blog posts to boost your organic reach.

What in the sam hell?! No. Thatā€™s going to boost your paid reach and when you turn the ads off your ā€œreachā€ is going to plummet. Just no.

All too often business owners in my communities ask me why theyā€™re not seeing sales or their email list growing.

It can be so much more than this little mistake but this is definitely a contributor.

šŸ”€ Only pinning ONE type of content. Yikes, youā€™re leaving so much on the table.

Pinterest is a place where people are along each phase of the buyer journey. That means you can promote top, middle and bottom of the funnel offers.
