Nice treat on a very special day (finally got a visit from the Social Security faerie 😊💰). , which was one of the landmark films of the , is one of my favorite films. A few years ago, filmmakers made a documentary called , about THE DAY AFTER’s production, and the incredible impact it had on the tens of millions who watched it, the the leaders in the US and the Soviet Union.
Tonight, is screening the documentary, followed by a Q&A with director Nicholas Meyer, who is also an icon in the universe; moderated by his daughter, screenwriter , who made headlines a few months back when she wed .
I came up with a t-shirt THE DAY AFTER fans would get, but didn’t have time to print them up. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Last night’s exciting Netflix Emmys campaign screening, Q&A, and reception for “Squid Game” Season 2 at The Egyptian Theatre, in Hollywood.
Q&A included cast: Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Kang Ae-shim, Park Sung-hoon, and Choi Seung-hyun; writer-director-producer Hwang Dong-hyuck; and several of the show’s department heads, including editing, production design, and cinematography; moderated by Rebecca Sun.
Reception was terrific, had games and decor right out of the show, and so much good food. 😋
I had never seen the show, really liked it, so I’m going to go back and watch both seasons. We also got a quick look at Season 3, which looks great.

Our “Attack of the Show!” tribute to the classic . We did a whole week of re-enactments from the film in 2011, culminating in “Weird Al” joining us live to do a scene with in-studio.
On September 7th, we turned the studio into Kevin Pereira’s Clubhouse for “Marble in the Oatmeal”. Kevin would toss a marble into the oatmeal, then and would wrestle in the oatmeal for the marble, and the winner would get to sit on the pony, and drink from the firehose! Sara won, and wearing a skimpy bikini top and little kid’s cowboy hat, she sat on the pony, but we always had water pressure problems with in-studio gags (see Drunk Iron Man 🤣), so when Sara was supposed to get sprayed in the face, instead only a slight trickle hit her chest. Disappointed, she blurted out, “Kevin, you’re supposed to shoot it in my mouth, not on my tits.” 😂🤣 We all lost it.

Sadly, this was the day our production manager informed us the Comcast overlords had informed him this would be the last large scale stunt we’d be allowed to do, because of issues with HR compliance and liability. 🤦🏻‍♂️

A great lunchtime surprise! 🎉🥳 Our producer, , picked up an awesome cake and card everybody signed, then they tricked me by saying we had a show meeting, haha. Was very nice, all the kind things everybody said. Everyone has been so supportive, is very touching, as I move on to new adventures. 🙏🏻🥹❤️

As we were reaching the end of the penultimate day of my nearly 40-year television career, the E! team had a wonderful surprise for me. Doing the red carpet shows, we sometimes have access to the red carpet, sometimes we don’t. Our Oscars show has been based out of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (site of the original Academy Awards ceremony) for a while, which means most of the truck crews don’t need red carpet access credentials, so it’s been a number of years since I did Oscars red carpet photos.
But today, they surprised me by arranging for me to walk the carpet one last time, took photos, and shot some video. It was great, a very nice way to wrap up the season, and my career.

Sad news of ‘s passing; just too young. 😢
February of 2014, I got to go to the 10th anniversary screening at ArcLight Hollywood, with a featuring the filmmakers ( ), cast (including , and ), and moderator . Michelle was candid about having had some rough patches, but was doing great, and had a very positive outlook. It was a raucous, hysterical discussion.
RIP Michelle. 🙏🏻😢
