Teacher to Filmmaker
�My films inspire rage for systemic change!
�Teaching didn’t work.
�The law had no enforcement.
�Now I’m a filmmaker. Let me explain...I was an elementary teacher for 10 years and didn’t see improvements for issues that I wanted changed. I graduated from law school and couldn’t figure out how to use the law to enforce or not to enforce certain education policies. I am using film as a form of advocacy to hold people accountable to schools. I’m an educator, author, and filmmaker who is currently directing and producing a documentary entitled, Robbed: A Mother’s Peril - The Kelley Williams-Bolar Story. In 2011, Kelley Williams-Bolar was jailed for enrolling her daughters into her parent’s school district after her home was burglarized. I am the founder of School Dismissed LLC, a film production company that bridges education, film, and law. I’ve taught across the United States and in Japan and Kuwait.
�In 2018, I resigned from the teaching profession and wrote a book entitled, “School Dismissed: Walking Away From Teaching,” where I described why I left the teaching profession. I was the host of Teacher Talks on TRIBE Family Channel for 3 seasons. My upcoming book is called School Dismissed: Beyond The COVID-19 Pandemic which discusses some of the problems that existed in the educational system prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and solutions beyond the pandemic.
