Two urban climbers, Angela Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov, illegally scaled the antenna spire of the Empire State Building on July 1 in a daring stunt that captivated onlookers and prompted a swift police response.

At the top, the couple unfurled a banner reading, “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace,” before Ivan appeared to propose to Angela hundreds of feet above New York City.

After spending roughly 30 minutes atop the spire, they safely descended and were taken into custody by the NYPD for the unauthorized climb.
