We paid a premium for fiber-cement siding, and this is what the install looks like. It’s not even finished, and it already needs to be redone. Butt joints gapping like it’s 1990, overdriven nails crushing the boards, and look at the corner—they just forced it. 🤦‍♂️ The installer is claiming this is "industry standard." Since when is visible separation and sloppy cuts the "standard" for anything other than cheap labor? We are going to be fighting this supplier all month. Pushing back is an understatement. Is good workmanship just a myth now? 🏗️🏠

Am I being too picky, or is this acceptable workmanship? I looked at the framing today and just sighed. This is a multi-million dollar custom build, and the crew managed to set four identical window openings on different elevations. It’s a 1–2 inch difference, but it makes the entire facade look wavy and unprofessional. When I questioned them, they said, "The siding will cover it." Siding covers the outside, it doesn't level the trim or make the window function properly. Do we not have laser levels in 2024? This is just lazy. We have to tear it all out. What's the biggest framing fail you've seen? 📐🏠

This makes my stomach churn. I specifically walked the electricians through this renovation and told them to only drill through the web of these I-joists. I come back to check their progress and find they’ve taken a hole saw to the bottom chord of the entire run. It’s a complete structural failure; these joists are useless now. The ignorance is mind-blowing. Now I have to halt the job, bring in a structural engineer to specify a fix, and probably sister every single one of them. Are people just not trained on basic structural systems anymore, or is it pure negligence? This just cost us thousands. ⚡️🚧

If you can’t waterproof it, don’t build it. This is a brand-new window installation on an addition. The first real rainstorm hit, and the homeowner called me in a panic because water was pouring inside the wall. I opened up the stucco, and look at this mess: the flashing is completely reversed, literally guiding the water right into the house. It's 101-level waterproofing, and yet here we are, doing mold remediation on a two-month-old wall. It’s hard to find trade partners who still take pride in the stuff nobody sees. Are we just prioritizing speed over basic physics now? 🌧️🏠

You have one job: set it straight. I walked onto the job site this morning and saw this structural steel column leaning like the Tower of Pisa. We’re holding up 14” trusses, and this is what’s supporting them? 🙄 The fabricator is blaming the erector, and the erector is blaming the foundation guys, saying the anchor bolts were off. Meanwhile, I’m the GC stuck in the middle trying to figure out how to safely pull this back into alignment without compromising the base plate. Is this the new normal? Does anyone actually use a plumb bob anymore? 🏗️👷‍♂️

You wait weeks for the foundation pour, and this is what you get. 🤦‍♂️ I’m GC’ing this custom build, and the crew just stripped the forms. Look at this honeycombing and exposed rebar! This isn’t just cosmetic; it’s a major structural concern. We’re supposed to have a 3000 PSI mix, but this looks more like Swiss cheese. I'm already on the phone with the concrete supplier, but it feels like the workmanship on site was the real issue. Is anyone else seeing this kind of drop in quality lately, or am I just getting unlucky? Do we patch and seal, or am I right to be demanding a teardown and re-pour? The homeowner is devastated. 🏗️💔

I walked into dinner expecting a meal… not a full-on guilt presentation taped to a restaurant stand 😭

There was this giant sign basically breaking down why my $203.10 bill was “supposed” to turn into $264.03.

Like seriously??

It started with:
10% = $20.31

Then they multiplied it by THREE like we were suddenly in math class and my final grade depended on tipping 30%.

I’m sorry, but when did eating out turn into solving equations to prove I’m a decent person?

That’s the part that rubbed me the wrong way.

The whole sign had this passive-aggressive vibe like:
“Sure, enjoy your dinner… but if you don’t leave another $60+, you clearly don’t respect service workers.”

And look — if the service is amazing, I tip well.
If somebody genuinely goes above and beyond, I’ll tip even more.

But giant signs trying to pressure customers into a specific percentage just feels weird to me.

At some point it stops sounding like a “tip” and starts sounding like a mandatory fee with extra guilt attached.

Just be upfront and say you want 30%.

Don’t turn dinner into a morality test with a handwritten calculator breakdown beside the hostess stand.

I paid for my food.
I tipped what I felt was fair.
Then I left.

But I’m not about to let a taped-up equation decide how guilty I’m supposed to feel after dessert.

Am I overreacting or is this getting out of hand lately?

I just fired my plumber in the middle of a job, and now he’s threatening to sue me for it. Honestly, I still don’t regret the decision.

He quoted me thousands of dollars to run copper pipe underground, but when I asked whether the pipe should be sleeved or protected before burial, he brushed it off and said burying bare copper directly in the soil was “standard practice.” I’m not a plumber, but I do know soil conditions can absolutely eat away at copper over time depending on moisture and composition. That’s not being difficult — that’s basic common sense.

When I questioned it and asked for extra protection before the line went in, instead of explaining his reasoning professionally, he got defensive and called me a Karen for asking questions about a major job on my own property. At that point I lost confidence completely.

I refused to pay for work that I didn’t feel met a proper standard, and now somehow I’m the bad guy for wanting answers before signing off on a huge bill. Since when did asking reasonable questions become offensive?

Maybe I’m not an HVAC expert… but something about this setup feels a little over-engineered. 😭

I walked past these AC units and honestly thought somebody built tiny metal carports for them. At first glance it looks clean and organized, but then the questions start creeping in. Are those covers actually helping protect the units, or are they restricting airflow and trapping heat around the condensers?

Part of me respects the effort because everything looks neat, symmetrical, and professionally mounted. But another part of me is wondering why these AC units have better roofing than some backyard patios. It almost feels like one of those projects where someone kept adding upgrades until nobody stopped them.

Maybe it’s genius. Maybe it’s unnecessary. HVAC pros — would you actually want this setup at your own house, or is this giving “expensive science project” energy?

To the person who reported my car and got it towed while I was inside the store for less than ten minutes… was that really necessary?

I ran in to grab a prescription, came back outside, and my car was already halfway onto a tow truck. Just like that, a quick errand turned into a massive towing bill, wasted hours, and a completely ruined day. I understand why certain parking spaces exist and I’m not arguing against the rules, but the speed at which this escalated felt unreal.

There was no warning, no chance to move the vehicle, no grace period at all — just straight to towing. Now I’m stuck dealing with fees, paperwork, and the stress of getting my car back over what was supposed to be a five-minute stop.

I know technically I parked there, but does every situation really need the harshest possible outcome immediately? Feels less like enforcement and more like punishment at that point.
