To my neighbor who thought 10am on a Saturday was the perfect time to start installing sewer pipes in front of the house… I’ve got to admit, I was not prepared for that level of early morning construction. 😅

Some of us were definitely trying to sleep.

Waking up to loud banging and digging before noon on a weekend is… not ideal.

I’ve already reached out to the appropriate authorities about the noise, and I really hope it doesn’t continue, because weekends are supposed to be a bit more peaceful than that.

This used to be a pretty quiet neighborhood, so it’s been a bit of a shock seeing front yards turned into full construction zones with no real consideration for everyone else around.

Just feels like common courtesy has taken a bit of a backseat lately.

Unreal.

I’m honestly trying to figure out what I’m paying for with Amazon Prime at this point. 😭📦

Today, a package worth almost $500 was delivered...

And instead of being brought to the porch, it was left sitting near the end of my driveway.

Not hidden.

Not protected.

Not even close to the house.

Just sitting there in the dirt like someone wanted it to become the neighborhood's problem. 💀

Before anyone says I'm overreacting, here's the thing:

I have clear signs asking delivery vehicles not to drive on the custom concrete driveway.

We spent a lot of money having it professionally done, and one heavy vehicle can cause damage that's far more expensive than the package itself.

The signs aren't there to be difficult.

They're there to prevent costly repairs.

Apparently, though, the driver interpreted:

"Please don't drive on the concrete"

As:

"Leave the package as far from the house as possible." 😅

My wife ended up putting on shoes, walking all the way down the driveway in the heat, and carrying the package back herself.

And that's the part that frustrated me.

I'm not asking for white-glove service.

I'm not expecting someone to personally hand it to me.

I just thought placing a package somewhere reasonably close to the front door was still considered normal delivery. 🤷

What really gets me is that this kind of thing feels more common than it used to.

Shipping costs go up.

Prime gets more expensive.

And somehow the service feels less reliable.

Packages get tossed.

Left in strange places.

Hidden where nobody can find them.

Or delivered like the goal is simply to make them disappear from the truck as fast as possible. 😭

Maybe I'm old-fashioned.

But if I'm paying for expedited shipping and ordering expensive items, I don't think expecting basic care and common sense is asking for too much.

So I'm curious...

I walked up to a small diner on a rainy afternoon expecting a warm, cozy spot — soft lights, classic décor, that easy neighborhood feel. But before I even stepped inside, a bold sign on the window stopped me in my tracks:

“IMPORTANT: Do NOT order here unless you plan to leave at least a 25% tip.”

A required 25% tip… before sitting down?

That one message completely changed the atmosphere. What looked like a relaxed place suddenly felt like there were conditions just to walk through the door.

Most people understand tipping and many are happy to do it, especially to support good service and local businesses. But there’s a clear line between encouraging appreciation and setting an upfront expectation that feels mandatory.

The tone didn’t help either — it came off less like a polite reminder and more like a warning. Instead of feeling welcomed, it felt like pressure was part of the experience from the start.

And that’s exactly why tipping debates keep getting louder: people don’t just want a meal, they want to feel comfortable while having it — not guilty before they’ve even ordered.

Yesterday, I acquired a car from a seller on Facebook Marketplace who guaranteed it was functioning flawlessly. Today, I found a large puddle of oil under the front tire, indicating a serious leak. The seller's failure to disclose this issue is concerning. I returned the vehicle to the seller's home, parking it in front of their driveway, and informed them that it would remain there until the issue is resolved. I came back to my car today and just stood there staring at this nonsense. Whoever parked next to me really thought this was acceptable. They squeezed their car in so close that my door barely even opens, and now I’m stuck trying to figure out how I’m supposed to get in without turning it into a full-body gymnastics routine.

And don’t even start with they stayed in the lines. I don’t care. If your parking skills leave someone else trapped like this, you didn’t park properly. It’s not a technicality game, it’s basic awareness. There’s literally no space here. I have to angle my body like I’m breaking into my own car just to slide in sideways.

What makes it worse is they just walked away like this was completely fine. No note, no attempt to adjust, nothing. Just left their car glued to mine and disappeared. Meanwhile I’m standing there looking like an idiot trying to squeeze through a gap that shouldn’t even exist, all because someone couldn’t take five extra seconds to park like a normal person.

How do I get this broken prong out without accidentally becoming part of the circuit?
I live in an apartment, so I can’t just go flip the breaker off myself. The prong snapped off inside the GFCI outlet, and now I’m trying to figure out the safest way to remove it.
Can I shut the outlet off with the test button and pull it out with rubber-handled pliers, or is that a terrible idea and I should just call maintenance before I turn this into an incident report?
Electrical people, talk me out of doing something dumb.
