Established in 1985 as the Polish Music Reference Center at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles through an endowment given by Dr. Stefan and Wanda Wilk, the Polish Music Center (PMC) is a part of the Thornton School of Music. Renamed in 2000, the PMC houses the largest public collection of Polish music materials in the U.S., containing approximately 10,000 items including: books,
scores, manuscripts, recordings, periodicals, documents and other items related to Polish music, focused mainly on contemporary music. The PMC organizes concerts and music festivals, including Polish Music spring concerts in March and the Paderewski Lecture-Recital in October, and co-organizes the Paderewski Festival in Paso Robles in November, among others. Launched in 1994, the Polish Music Center website contains biographies and catalogues of works, recordings and repertoire by Polish composers, as well as articles on the history of Polish music and dance.
