Just 3 Banana Peels for Your Peace Lily (See the Amazing Results)
If you’re struggling with your Peace Lily, which isn’t growing or flowering, or if the leaves are looking unhealthy and you feel like you’ve tried everything with no results, there’s a simple, natural solution you may want to consider. A common kitchen item—banana peels—can make a significant difference in the health of your Peace Lily. Yes, you heard that right! Just three banana peels can help rejuvenate your Peace Lily, and I’m here to share how you can use them to achieve incredible results.
Why Banana Peels?
Banana peels are rich in essential nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, and various vitamins. These nutrients are crucial for promoting the growth and overall health of plants. Potassium, for example, is vital for flowering and fruiting in plants, while magnesium plays a role in the process of photosynthesis. The vitamins present in banana peels help strengthen the plant’s defenses and improve its overall vitality. If your Peace Lily is struggling to grow or produce flowers, this simple, natural remedy might be just what it needs.
How to Make the Banana Peel Fertilizer
Here’s how you can create a banana peel fertilizer to help your Peace Lily thrive:
Materials Needed:
3 banana peels
1.5 liters of water
A container to soak the banana peels
Step-by-Step Process:
Prepare the Banana Peels: Take three banana peels and cut them into small pieces. This will help release the nutrients more effectively when soaked in water.
Add Water: Place the cut banana peels into a container and pour about 1.5 liters of water over them. Make sure the peels are fully submerged.
Let It Sit: Allow the banana peels to soak in the water for about three days. During this time, the nutrients from the peels will infuse the water, creating a nutrient-rich solution that can be used to feed your Peace Lily.
Observe the Changes: After three days, the water will change color, taking on a slightly brownish tint. This indicates that the nutrients, including potassium, magnesium, and other essential vitamins, have been extracted into the water.
Application: The next step is to apply this nutrient-rich water to your Peace Lily. Use the water to soak the soil around the base of the plant. The roots will absorb the nutrients, giving the plant the boost it needs to grow stronger and healthier.
Benefits for Your Peace Lily
The banana peel fertilizer is packed with essential nutrients that can do wonders for your Peace Lily:
Improved Growth: Potassium and magnesium from the banana peels help promote strong, healthy growth. Your Peace Lily will grow more vigorously, with lush, vibrant leaves.
Better Flowering: Potassium is particularly beneficial for flowering plants. This natural fertilizer encourages the Peace Lily to bloom, even if it has been struggling to produce flowers.
Healthier Leaves: If your Peace Lily has yellowing or wilting leaves, the banana peel fertilizer can help rejuvenate them. The vitamins and minerals in the solution can restore the health of the leaves, making them greener and more vibrant.
Natural and Safe: Unlike chemical fertilizers, banana peels are completely natural, making them safe for your plant and the environment. This is an organic alternative to traditional plant food.
Frequency of Application
For best results, apply this banana peel fertilizer to your Peace Lily every seven days. Regular use will help maintain healthy growth, promote consistent flowering, and keep the leaves in optimal condition. As a bonus, you can also use this fertilizer for other plants in your garden, whether it’s flowers, herbs, or vegetables. The nutrients in the banana peel solution are beneficial for a wide range of plants, not just Peace Lilies.
The Results
When you start using banana peels on your Peace Lily, you’ll begin to notice improvements in just a short time. Your plant will start growing more vigorously, and you may notice new flowers emerging. The leaves will become healthier, with a deeper green color and less yellowing. In fact, the results can be so impressive that you may end up with a plant that looks even better than before, almost like a blooming rose.
This simple and affordable solution has already worked wonders for many plant owners. The combination of potassium, magnesium, and other nutrients found in banana peels can significantly boost the health and vitality of your Peace Lily, transforming it into a beautiful, thriving plant.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a natural way to enhance the health of your Peace Lily, consider using banana peels as a fertilizer. It’s an easy and effective method that provides your plant with essential nutrients it needs to grow and bloom beautifully. By applying this simple technique once a week, you can help your Peace Lily flourish and turn into a stunning addition to your home. Give it a try, and you might be amazed by the results!

Michigan winter is rough so I stay inside and mess around with houseplants. I bought the crates at Lowes and i used a small surefire (propane torch) and "burned" each one. No stain needed. Super easy and quick to do. It takes 1-2 mins each crate. The longest part of the whole project was arranging them to my liking

I used some small plastic beads to create a gentle clamp for my pothos vine! Just slide a few beads onto the stem—make sure they’re not too tight—and it helps support and guide the growth without damaging the plant. This is perfect for training vines along a surface or keeping them from drooping too much. Super easy, cute, and totally plant-safe! 💚🌼

New moss pole idea. Easy and clean.
I used a hole puncher to make the holes on a boba straw and filled it with spagnum. I make sure to tie the nodes of the plant to the pole. I use fishing string with a dab of super glue. I really really hate tying spag on the outside.
