The Kalinin K-7 was a Monster Made of Soviet Steel. The experimental bomber aircraft was developed in the Soviet Union in the early 1930s. A prototype Spitfire floatplane, one of only five of its type created during WWII. This was based on a Mark IX, and was intended for use in the Pacific. With a top speed of just under 380 mph, it was the fastest floatplane of the war. It first flew in June 1944, but the idea didn't catch on and the project was cancelled.
