Un 14 juillet qui a fait couler beaucoup d'encre...

En 1979, Serge Gainsbourg s'envole pour la Jamaïque afin d'enregistrer "Aux armes et cætera", une version reggae de La Marseillaise. Entouré de musiciens ayant collaboré avec Bob Marley, il revisite l'hymne national mêlant patrimoine français et rythmes jamaïcains.

Si cette relecture fut considérée comme une nouvelle provocation de Serge Gainsbourg, elle est aujourd'hui considérée comme une œuvre majeure de la musique française, symbole d'une rencontre entre deux cultures musicales.

En ce 14 juillet, célébrons la fête nationale, Serge Gainsbourg...et le reggae ! 🇫🇷

In 1979, Serge Gainsbourg travelled to Jamaica to record 'Aux armes et cætera,' a reggae reinterpretation of "La Marseillaise." Backed by musicians who had worked with Bob Marley, he reimagined the French national anthem, blending France's musical heritage with the rhythms of Jamaica.
Although this bold reinterpretation was initially seen as yet another provocation by Serge Gainsbourg, it is now regarded as a landmark work of French music, a powerful symbol of the meeting between two rich musical cultures.
