Police Saw It Too… But That Wasn’t the Only Sighting

In 1967, more than 30 witnesses—including police officers and sheriffs—reported a UFO over Brockport, New York.

But just hours earlier, a separate incident nearby involved claims of a landed craft… and something even stranger.

Later investigated by NICAP, the Brockport sighting was classified as a verified UFO—while the earlier report remained unexplained.

“30 Yards Away…” — 1967 UFO Sighting (Multiple Witnesses)

A teenager steps outside in 1967… looking for UFOs.

What he saw instead was a silent, flaming object hovering just 30 yards away — close enough to change his life forever.

An orange, plasma-like craft.
A smaller light trailing behind it.
Multiple witnesses.

Was this something mechanical… or something else entirely?

On a quiet summer night in 1967, a teenage boy in Brockport went outside hoping to see a flying saucer and ended up witnessing something he would never forget. What he saw wasn’t just a distant light, but a silent, burning object moving low and deliberately, close enough to leave no doubt that this wasn’t an ordinary sighting. And he wasn’t alone. Others saw it too, including police officers who reported the sighting. Decades later, that moment hasn’t faded; it’s only grown more mysterious. Because the real question isn’t just what was in the sky, but what it meant. In this edition of West of The Rockies, Len Filppu and filmmaker Matthew Salton revisit the case, the witnesses, and the lasting impact of a sighting that didn’t just pass by—it stayed with him.

“He didn’t feel fear… he felt something else.”

What if UFO encounters aren’t just about what’s out there… but what’s happening inside us?

In 1967, Len Filppu witnessed something over Brockport, NY that stayed with him for decades—not because of what he saw, but because of how it changed him.
