With echoing silhouettes, shapes-within-shapes and the nuances of light and shadow, the SkLO + AvroKO Lighting Collection is the first-ever design collaboration between ,the design and manufacturing brand known for its lighting, furniture and accessories in handblown Czech glass, and the globally recognized hospitality design and concept studio.

This partnership merges SkLO’s material-driven refinement and unique glass color palette with AvroKO’s richly layered, narrative-driven design, resulting in an expansive collection of 12 designs.

The collection made its world-wide debut at the recent launch of ‘Fulcrum’ at , the exhibition gallery created by AvroKO. HOST is a gathering space and creative laboratory that celebrates the nature of hospitality, supported by unique and artful approaches to meaningful connection.

An absolutely wonderful and inspiring visit to by of

When Monocle visits their studio, models and maquettes are being prepared for competition entries and team members are poring over drawings. Awards and trophies, from Silver Lions to Prix de l’Équerre d’Argent, are set on shelves. Despite the accolades, the duo remain committed to building with clients and communities in mind. “Architecture, whether it’s a door or a huge campus, has the capacity to be everything,” says Farrell. “If it’s done properly, it’s a gift to humanity. And if it’s an afterthought, it’s absolutely horrible because it affects everybody’s life.”

Budget Breakdown: It Took $1.6M and Less Than a Year to Reboot This ’70s Ojai Ranch House
Working with an aggressive timeline, architect Barbara Bestor ( ) cut out dated carpeting and wasted space—and added fresh finishes and an ADU with colorful storage.

Today on , reimagines this modern Monterey home with light, space and “knowing when to leave it alone,” he says.

‘Borne of a passion for modern design, the project began with a singular brief that sought to maintain the essence of an historical gem. “The clients had moved from Los Angeles in search of a more grounded lifestyle,” recalls studio principal Michael Hilal. “They discovered this untouched mid-century home by acclaimed architect, William D Concolino and were drawn to its potential.” Perched on a pine-covered slope, the home is responsive to its surrounds through wraparound outdoor spaces, an internal courtyard and plentiful glazing. The new scheme builds upon the framework of the original in a conscious effort to restore and uplift, all the while respecting what has come before.’

Congrats selected as one of the Dwell 24 - ‘s annual roster of the best new talent.

“With her medium of welded metal, Cologne, Germany–based designer Hannah Kuhlmann iterates on the everyday furnishings in our domestic spaces, creating objects that challenge the sometimes antiseptic precision of industrial production. ‘I sketch the objects I envision and bring them to life with my own hands and give them a personal signature,’ she says. ‘The objects I create are more like companions—entities you live with.’ Although perfecting the use of tubular stainless steel in distinctive forms has been her main preoccupation, Kuhlmann has begun to incorporate softer elements but hasn’t left metal behind. ‘When designing a daybed, I no longer think only in terms of upholstery,’ she says. ‘I think of the upholstery as a garment and have begun to decorate my designs with jewel-like adornments.’”

“In a city that has become the incubator of our future-forward world so fraught with disruption, Kwong has composed a domestic realm that abounds in timeless, sensuous serenity — it is a true wellspring of grace.”

Designer Michael Hilal () presents a unique installation at COLLECTIBLE NY () and curates the new Vignette section alongside founders Liv Vaisberg and Clélie Debehault.

“I created my own vignette that was emblematic of collectible design to me at this current time with a little new and old. With a paired back appearance I really wanted the space to be focused on the handful of select beautiful items in the space. I brought in a couple of iconic vintage pieces - The Philippe Starck Aluminum Costes chair made in 1992 and the Antonio Citterio Kalos Chair made in 1997 covered in sumptuous Schumacher Moire Silk fabric. I paired this pieces with contemporary artists like Samantha Mccurdy (where we are exploring light sculpture, Kiki Gotti’s beautiful glass vessels, Ian Spencer’s English Oak table with a light burn finish, Vaughn Davis Jr’s sculptural canvas piece, and Armadillo’s plush sculptural rug. All of this was put together against a moody backdrop using Farrow and Ball’s London Clay color.”

Come visit today through Sunday!
