Los Angeles Times postpones Festival of Books and Food Bowl due to coronavirus concerns

In light of public health concerns related to the coronavirus and out of an abundance of caution, the Los Angeles Times is postponing the Festival of Books and Food Bowl events, originally scheduled for this April and May, respectively.

The 25th annual Festival of Books will be presented in association with the University of Southern California, on the USC campus, the weekend of Oct. 3-4, 2020. The Book Prizes awards ceremony, planned for April 17, will not be held this year. Book Prizes honorees and winners will be acknowledged through an announcement which remains scheduled for April 17.

The 4th annual Food Bowl will be held this fall, with dates to be announced.

Whenever we host the public at our events, we take health and safety seriously. As we make plans to host the Festival of Books and Food Bowl in the fall, we will continue to monitor developments with the coronavirus in Southern California, and cross-reference with any guests who may be traveling to Southern California from affected areas to participate in our events.

For any further updates and details related to Los Angeles Times Events, please visit latimes.com/events. Our team is contacting partners and affiliates directly. If you are a sponsor, exhibitor, participant or volunteer with additional questions, please refer to the relevant contact information on the Festival of Books and Food Bowl websites.

The Los Angeles Times' Festival of Books and Food Bowl events have been moved from late spring to fall as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Events Are Our Passion

We produce over 100 a year and we’re not satisfied unless each and every one of them is the kind of only-in-L.A. immersive experience that captivates attendees and delivers one-of-kind opportunities for brands. From L.A.’s culinary stars to Hollywood’s A-listers, top thinkers to political leaders, we draw the biggest names and the most engaged audiences. Our events are creatively inspired, thoroughly planned and flawlessly executed to meet the highest expectations – of our attendees and our partners.
