Recently had a heartfelt discussion on Labor Day about Frankie Beverly and Maze. I mentioned how my band in Chicago would never cover any of their music during our concerts because of how distinct their sound was and we agreed that "unless we're going to sound EXACTLY like they sound on their records then, we can't touch them." Our band's decision was solely from a place of deep respect for the music of Frankie Beverly and Maze. We covered much of the Minneapolis sound (Prince, The Time, The Family, Vanity 6, Mazerati) and did their music justice at our live shows.

Prayers for Mr. Frankie Beverly and family. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us. Rest easy.
