In partnership with Gucci, So It Goes explores the classical idea of ‘Rus in Urbe’ (or ‘Countryside in the City’) against Los Angeles’ beacon of sustainable practices, The Flamingo Estate, to showcase Gucci’s new line of sustainably sourced travel pieces.

The line, which is made of a regenerated nylon, ECONYL®, underlines the House’s support of more circular practices without sacrificing its dedication to creativity and design. With materials obtained from abandoned fishnets, recycled brass, solvent-free adhesives, and carpets which might otherwise end up in the ocean or in landfills, this collection promotes our shared passion for creating positive change and looking out for our communities to maintain the beautiful spaces around us.
Captured by Daria Kobayashi Ritch with our cast of sustainability activist Carolyn Murphy, and curator of The Gagosian, Antwaun Sargent, So It Goes and Gucci’s ‘Get Off The Grid’ imagery finds peace from the city, while remaining the whole time in the metropolis.

NEW: So It Goes and Gucci ‘Get Off The Grid’

So It Goes is delighted to announce a hugely exciting partnership with Gucci to celebrate Gucci’s sustainable Off The Grid line, which champions the regeneration of materials and textiles, wasting less and minimising the use of new resources.

Shot in our adoptive city of Los Angeles with sustainability activist Carolyn Murphy and Gagosian curator Antwaun Sargent, photographer Daria Kobayashi Ritch Photography captured a series of images exploring the twin classical concepts of ‘Rus in Urbe’ or ‘countryside in the city’ and ‘ataraxia’ (literally: a state of no disturbances) to muse on how we might free our mind from the stresses of modern, cosmopolitan life and move towards sustainable modes of everyday life while still existing in a metropolis.

An opportunity for tranquility was provided in the grounds of LA’s beacon of sustainable practices – The Flamingo Estate - in Eagle Rock – on a baking hot California day this spring. With So It Goes’ creative direction, Gucci’s sustainable travel bags were pictured in a beautiful, cinematic story that speaks to detached joy and the nature that remains around us.

We are so happy to announce that our latest So It Goes digital cover star is the very special talent, Jessie Buckley, interviewed by the inimitable Maggie Gyllenhaal, photographed by Steph Wilson and styled by Tess Herbert in Gucci.
Killarney-born Jessie Buckley’s performances thus far have captured the attention of devoted fans around the world. With a 2021 that, among many others, sees her play Juliet in the The National's unique Covid-fenced production of Romeo and Juliet, Jessie builds on star turns in projects ranging from Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things and Tom Harper’s Wild Rose (for which she received a BAFTA nomination for Best Leading Actress), to HBO’s smash drama Chernobyl, and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming The Lost Daughter alongside Olivia Colman and 2020’s breakout star, Paul Mescal’s chain.

Week two of our digital issue release is upon us. This is a new project at So It Goes that looks to do what we can to contribute to initiatives and organisations fighting Covid-19 – www.soitgoesmag.com/print.

We are making every, single one of our 400+ page print issues available to download for the first time ever. In order to download each issue, all the reader will need to do is make a minimum donation of £1 on our site and we’ll send you the issue digitally.⠀
⠀
The proceeds of the donation will go to The UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, a global organisation dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. This work is needed now, more than ever in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The minimum donation to receive the issue is £1, but we do, of course welcome any amount that can be spared for a good cause. ⠀

The second in our digital issue release is Issue 8 of So It Goes with Mark Ruffalo, Millie Bobby Brown and many many more. It is an issue that holds a special place in our hearts with so many fond memories. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been thinking a great deal about how we at So It Goes can contribute to initiatives and organisations on the front-lines, fighting Covid-19.⠀

So, after much thought, today – and every Monday for the next 14 weeks – we will be making every, single one of our 400+ page print issues available to download for the first time ever.
