Not me disagreeing with A Chorus Line… 👀

And yes, I know the context of the song. In A Chorus Line, Zach asks the dancers what they’d do if they had to stop dancing today, so the lyric is quite literal.

But when most of us hear “The gift was ours to borrow,” (or just the song as a standalone, in general) we hear something bigger:

dancing = borrowed time

That’s doesn’t resonate with me anymore.

Did SYTYCD help create the very online dance culture that eventually made it less necessary?
