MELODIC POWER METAL NEWCOMERS EVERY KING HAS A CLOWN INVITE YOU TO A CRUCIFIXION

Los Angeles, California - It’s not often that a new band explodes into view without first having peppered our social media feeds with countless memes, reels and similar jiggerypokery.

Every King Has A Clown, however, prove that it can still be done. Roaring out of a background split intriguingly between Sweden and the Canary Islands, and marshaled by bassist/songwriter Ryker Castro, Every King Has A Clown deliver melodic, yet mighty metal, seamlessly blending the energies of European and international power metal with progressive touches.

Ryker says, ““Every King Has A Clown is my solo project. I created it to have total freedom over the songwriting, the sound and the artistic direction. The idea was simple: write the record I always wanted to hear, with strong melodies, heavy energy and no compromises. The jester-king on the album cover, named EKHAC, is the visual symbol of the project — the contrast between good and evil.”

He did not work alone. “This album is the sound of me fighting my own demons. I wanted a record built on strong songs, heavy energy and great voices — nothing else.” Thus, Every King Has A Clown’s self-titled debut album includes contributions from some of the biggest names on the modern scene, as Ryker details.

“Ray Alder (Fates Warning - guesting on the album’s penultimate track, “Revenge”)) brings a unique emotional weight and intensity that lifts the track instantly.

“Mats Levén (ex-Therion) delivers the darker edge of the album with power and character.

“Mark Boals (Ring of Fire) adds precision, range and a classic melodic metal feel.

“Mike DiMeo (ex-Riot) brings grit and soul, [and] a strong hard-rock backbone.

“Anders Engberg (Sorcerer) adds depth and authority with his unmistakable tone.

“Göran Edman (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) brings clarity and elegance — his voice cuts through perfectly.

“Steve Braun (Halcyon Way) adds pure metal attitude and delivers exactly the punch [I] needed.

“Berzan Önen (Deer From Space) brings raw energy and a modern edge to the album.

“Christian Palin (ex-Adagio) adds aggression and dynamic range, pushing the [music] forward.

“Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator) gives the album a tight, precise and powerful foundation.

“Bastian Thusgaard (Soilwork) adds intensity and drive, with a very sharp and modern drum approach.”

In addition, the album was mastered by Tony Lindgren (Katatonia, Enslaved, Testament, Haken and hundreds more) at his home base Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.

Every King Has A Clown will be out on January 30. But to pave the way, today sees the release of both the band’s first single, “Crucify Me,” and an accompanying full concept video, a dynamic live performance shot through with precisely the visuals that the song title demands. It’s exhilarating stuff!

TWISTED SISTER’S HAMMERHEADS ARE COMING ATCHA! FIRST EVER STAND ALONE RELEASE FOR THIS CLASSIC CONCERT RECORDING

Los Angeles, California - Back in 1980, Twisted Sister were still a few years from superstardom. They’d already been around since 1972, growing out of a band called Silver Star, who styled themselves as New Jersey’s New York Dolls. A year later, though, they changed their name and shifted their direction as well.

Constantly gigging, forever sharpening their sound, and undergoing a veritable plethora of line-up changes, Twisted Sister as we know them best would not emerge until 1982. But already they’d made appearances on major label comps, and they’d recorded, too, the first couple of live shows featured on 2016’s so-aptly titled box set Rock 'N' Roll Saviors - The Early Years.

Now the most ferocious of those performances, from West Islip NY in1980, makes its stand-alone debut as Hammerheads - and what a show it is. Opening with a positively roof-raising rampage through “What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You),” the 12 song concert sees these legends of crazed, cross-dressing hard rock mayhem absolutely slaying on stage, with - among so many more - future smash “Rock’n’Roll Saviors,” a fiery “Johnny B Goode,” and one of the all-time great “Born To Be Wild”s.

It’s a devastating concert - the sound of a band that, still awaiting their first major break, have already put all the pieces in place. Now all they need do is wait for the world to catch up with them.

Which, of course, it would. Around 18 months later, two of the songs featured here, “What You Don’t Know” and “Under The Blade”, would feature on the band’s first ever release, the UK-only Ruff Cuts EP, and hit #2 on the UK metal charts. Others - “Bad Boys (Of Rock’N’Roll)” and “Destroyer” - would make it onto their debut album, Under The Blade; one more, “I’ll Never Grow Up,” would be added to the album when the band was picked by Atlantic Records.

All adding up, then, to one of the most explosive live shows of the era, and now one of the most dynamic discs you’ll have heard in years. And, for vinyl lovers, this is Hammerheads’ first ever appearance in that format. Make sure you listen on maximum volume.

GRAHAM BONNET AND BUMBLEFOOT SAY IT’S JUST THE TWO OF US

Los Angeles, California - We’re just days away now from the ultimate last minute holidays present for all the metal fans in your life - and the yacht rock lovers as well… because you never know. They might wanna hear it, too.

Yes, Yacht Metal is due to dock on December 19, and if you’ve missed the buzz that’s already about, then this is your chance to leap on board, as Graham Bonnet (Rainbow) and Bumblefoot pair up to give Grover Washington Jr. and Bill Withers' 1980 smash “Just The Two Of Us” the kind of work-out that neither you nor they probably ever expected to hear.

Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal was certainly excited at the prospect. “When Cleopatra Records calls, I know it's gonna be something fun,” he says. “And, sure enough, Yacht Metal! Had the pleasure of guesting alongside the mighty Graham Bonnet with music/produced by Derek Hughes - I hope you all enjoy! :)”

SINGLE: https://orcd.co/grahambonnetbumblefoot_justthetwoofus

Yes, you will. Because how can you not? Yacht Metal, after all, brings together two of the most… can we say “beloved”? Yeah, why not. Two of the most beloved genres in modern music, and while it would have been easy to flip the concept and serve up metal by the yachting community (don’t laugh… it might happen!), right now it’s the metal mob storming the marina, with solos on stun, riffs on roofies, and vocals that can shatter a fiber-glass hull from a hundred paces.

Thor sings Jay Ferguson. The BulletBoys batter “Taking It To The Streets.|” Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow) sails through “Ride Captain Ride.” And yes, talking of Captains, Lorraine Lewis (Femme Fatale) and George Lynch positively shred “Love Will Keep Us Together.” Girlschool’s Kim McAuliffe and Leader of Down savage Nicolette Larson’s version of Neil Young’s defenseless “Lotta Love,” while former Judas Priest frontman Tim “Ripper” Owens and UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore claim they want to “Kiss You All Over.” And maybe they do. You’ll have to listen to find out for sure.

And you only have ten days (and counting) to wait before the dreadnought pulls into port. At which point, even the most painstakingly-curated festive playlist will be cast aside to make way for a brain-busting blast of Yacht Metal.

Sail on, sailors!

TODD RUNDGREN ALIVE AND ALONE ON STAGE

Los Angeles, California: Todd Rundgren has never stood still for long. Across a career that is positively littered with abrupt changes of direction, unexpected shifts in outlook and startling flashes of off-kilter brilliance, it is difficult (if not impossible) to truly pin down who he is, what he does, and why he does it.

It was inevitable, then, that one day he would gather up all those different identities and attitudes, and take them all on the road on his own.

Nobody knew what to expect when Todd Rundgren announced his next tour would be strictly solo, some three dozen shows sprawling across the first four months of the year, and launching at the New Orleans House of Blues on January 20, 2003. There would be no band, no backing musicians, nothing beyond Todd and his songs - and they were certainly destined to be shuffled in and out of the set as the mood took him.

Guitars, samplers, piano, backing tapes - "Some people feel I'm playing with pre-recorded music… or some nonsense,” he quipped. But no. “I have the whole band standing by and ready to broadcast through this tiny little device.” Of course he was joking, but it’s fun to imagine the alternative.

So it is, as anyone versed in Cockney rhyming slang will already have punned, Todd on his tod… (ah, but did you know the expression actually refers to an American jockey, Todd Sloan?), and Solo In Clearwater - making its physical (double colored vinyl and 2 CD) debut today - is as representative as any recording from this magical, mercurial, outing.

He’s having fun, reaching back through his catalog and just doing whatever he wants. “Hello It’s Me” is almost chaotic, but like he tells the audience, “the piano has all the keys on it, all equally easy to hit as you just heard…that's why I like the guitar better, there only six chances to screw up on it!”

“Song of the Viking” comes off like a Peter Piper-style vaudeville tongue twister; a ukulele-powered “Bang The Drum All Day” is so convincingly restyled as an “ancient Hawaiian war chant” that a voice from the audience demands to know “where’s your lai?” There’s a glorious bossa nova interlude, and a Marvin Gaye cover that will make your head spin. And, contrarily, a take on “Hawking” that’s been described as one of the most affecting he has ever performed.

So yes. Across a career littered with electrifying eccentricity and blinding flashes of eclectic stubborn-ness, Todd’s fans long ago became accustomed to expecting the unexpected. In fact, they all but demand it.

And still Solo In Clearwater is guaranteed to shock, startle and stun.

THE WAIT IS OVER! IT’S TIME TO RIDE THE SKY WITH NUCLEAR MESSIAH

Los Angeles, California: You can’t say you weren’t warned. You can’t hide under the table and complain that nobody told you. Two weeks you’ve had to get ready for this, and if you’re still unprepared, tough luck. Nuclear Messiah are here, and they’re going to keep coming at you for weeks to come.

And that’s before the album even drops. Once it gets here, there’s nothing you can do.

Because Nuclear Messiah is more than an album. It’s a living timeline of rock and metal — from the pioneers of the past to the trailblazers of today; an apocalyptic, cinematic masterpiece — a sonic prophecy uniting a staggering line-up of 36 of the most iconic musicians in rock and metal history, representing every era of heavy music, and uniting icons from thrash, classic rock, hard rock, and progressive metal:

We’re letting you off lightly today. As if anything involving the combined talents of Chris Poland (Megadeth), Alan Davey (Hawkwind) and Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath) could be described as light. And when you add the God of Hell Fire, the almighty Arthur Brown to the brew, and then hand them a Lucifer’s Friend song to play with…

“My first exposure to Lucifer's Friend was when I first moved to LA in 1977,” says Chris Poland. “I was surprised when I heard we were covering one of their songs. ‘Ride the Sky’ is such a great song and Arthur's dramatic vocal style takes it to a whole new place. Especially the last chorus where Arthur really goes for it. And the band follows suit, getting more and more intense right to the end.”

Alan Davey agrees. He and Arthur have worked together in the past, on the singer’s Monster’s Ball album (also available from Cleopatra Records), and he enthuses, “It’s always fun to work on songs with Arthur and those fiery vocals of his. Doing the bass and synths for this single was a blast!”
The accompanying video only adds to the inferno, as film-makers Fred Aching and Holly West explain. “This track had [us] from the first note, making the video a breeze to create. Chris Poland’s got a masterpiece, and we are proud to help bring it to the screen. With vibrant Arthur Brown moments throughout, it becomes a standout experience for fans—a colorful, psychedelic rush from beginning to end.”

Even more impressively, Chris admits, “With the solid rhythm section of Vinnie and Alan, it is one of my favorite songs we recorded for the Nuclear Messiah project.” And that really is high praise.

Set for release in the new year, Nuclear Messiah offers up an unprecedented gathering of rock and metal royalty, across a thunderous, all-star concept album constructed around Chris Poland’s visionary guitar.

“Chris isn’t just a guitarist — he’s a Spirit of Sound,” says Brian Perera, Cleopatra’s founder and the album’s executive producer. “Nuclear Messiah was built around his brilliance and brought to life by an army of legends who share his passion and precision.”

An army indeed! Alongside Vinny, Arthur and Alan, Chris Poland is joined by fellow Megadeth alumni, Marty Friedman, David Ellefson, Glen Drover, Shawn Drover and Chris Adler, plus a stellar cast of other guests: Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Guns N’ Roses, Sons of Apollo), Mick Box (Uriah Heep), Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Night Ranger), Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Beck, Bogert & Appice, King Kobra), Simon Wright (AC/DC, Dio), Don Airey (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Ozzy Osbourne), Rick Wakeman (Yes), Jonathan Cain (Journey, The Babys), Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Sons of Apollo, Black Country Communion), Bob Daisley (Ozzy Osbourne, Rainbow, Gary Moore, Uriah Heep), Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Last in Line), Vinnie Moore (UFO, Alice Cooper), Joe Bouchard (Blue Öyster Cult), Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen), Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Andrew Freeman (Last in Line, Lynch Mob), Marc Lopes (Ross the Boss, Metal Church, Let Us Prey), Pat Travers (Pat Travers Band), Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Lords of Black), Lance Lopez (Supersonic Blues Machine, Billy Gibbons), Greg T. Walker (Blackfoot, Lynyrd Skynyrd family), Steve DiGiorgio (Testament, Death, Sadus), Thor (Thor), Fred Aching (Dead Groove, Kings of Thrash, BulletBoys, Powerflo, BillyBio), and Jürgen Engler (Die Krupps).
Maybe you think you can imagine what it sounds like. Maybe you’ll listen to “Ride The Sky” and say to yourself, “uh huh.”

Don’t. Nuclear Messiah isn’t simply louder than the sum of its parts. It is, quite possibly… nah. Let’s not spoil the surprise. Just keep your eyes open for a host more singles to come this year, and into 2026 as well. And after that? The countdown starts here.

AUSTIN SHOCK ROCKERS DANGEROUS TOYS ARE RATTLING YOUR CAGE AS DEMOLITION GROWS CLOSER

Los Angeles, California: Southern sleaze-metal veterans Dangerous Toys might not have released a new album in 30 years (although they promise there’s one on its way), but that hasn’t stopped them from establishing themselves among the most ferocious live bands on the circuit right now, while an avid following remains as rabid as ever.

Time, then, to break the silence with Demolition, a brain melting compilation of 10 tracks, all previously unreleased and recorded during the hiatus between the band’s second and third albums, 1991’s Hellacious Acres and 1994’s Pi**ed - arguably, the peak of the original band’s activities.

It wasn’t easy selecting the contents. The band had some 70 new songs to choose from as they pieced together Pi**ed, almost everyone banged down on tape within days of the original idea being brought into the jam rom.

“These old songs… obviously didn’t make the cut when choosing songs for official release,” the band remark in the liner notes, but that has nothing to do with their quality - each one is a solid blast of Dangerous Toys living up to their name. There just wasn’t room on the album to fit them all in.

The countdown to Demolition’s December 12 release (on CD, vinyl and cassette) is already underway. But today sees the release of the second single from the album(following the almighty “Rock Shock Cowboy” a few weeks back), and “Rattle My Cage” comes storming out to make you wonder, once again, how it didn’t make the final album.

“‘Rattle My Cage’ is our punk rock, metalhead anthem of defiance against all the forces that get in our way,” says bassist Mike Watson, “F**k around and find out!”

SINGLE: https://orcd.co/dangeroustoys_rattlemycage

“It's a snapshot of what was going on in the D.T. song writing process at that point in time,” says guitarist Scott Dalhover “We were having a great time at rehearsals. Just throwing one idea after another to see what song would come out and stick the landing.”

And from frontman Jason McMaster, “We are excited to see how these tunes translate to our fans. These were telling of where our heads were in the world at the time. Defiant, rebellious, but also looking for fun.”

They certainly found it.
