Message from TÂCHES: 🌵❤️

“20 September 2022 marked the 5 year anniversary of starting my label GLITTER COWBOY and home for musical weirdness! In that time, we’ve had just shy of 20,000,000 plays (on Spotify alone!), released 22 EPs/singles, collaborated with 32 incredible artists, performed on 4 of the worlds continents and kept me sane and plodding along in times of immense depression.

Thank you SO much to everyone who has been a part of the music; be that songwriting and singing, playing instruments, releasing EPs or remixing tracks. Thank you to everyone who bought, streamed and supported in any way the 52 songs released over this half decade. It’s been a coordinated effort and every one of you has helped get us here today ❤️🌵

In an ideal world, my father would have been 65 today. In an ideal world, we would meet this afternoon to throw back some birthday beers. But we do not live in an ideal world, and it is often when the world is at its least ideal that we are the most aware of it and therefore most able to document its hardships with our art. As artists our job is to paint the world around us in the colour palette we deem to be most fitting to describe how we see it and subsequently what we choose to say about it. I have always chosen to paint the world around me as full of romance and hope, despite the pain I have often felt inside. I don’t think I’ve ever put out a song, no matter how uplifting, that wasn’t in part created as a means of healing myself and this EP is no different. The years are ticking by now since I last hugged him but the legacy he left on my love for world music, in particular the music of India, will never lose its strong hold on my heart.

With the way the world has been over the past year, it’s often been hard to stay inspired and even harder to finish the things that appeared out of those rarer moments of inspiration. Let this EP serve as a reminder to myself that no matter the weather, I must keep releasing music that is dear to me. I hope you enjoy my new release; ‘With Each Passing Day’.

“For as long as I’ve been making music I’ve yearned to create something that made me feel like I feel when I listened to my favourite gospel tracks. I’ve waffled on about it for years to anyone who could bear to listen to me repeat myself. Coming primarily from a background of ‘programmed’ computer music, I just didn’t know how to go about creating something that had the soul and spirit that I was searching for.
That was until I met the very special Moira Mack last year. Shortly after we sat down in a session, we bonded over our love for soul and gospel and sought to write something that carried both the spiritual weight and lightness of gospel. She had read that morning a beautiful quote by the late Albert Camus; “Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead. Walk beside me… just be my friend” and very quickly managed to craft the basis of this beautiful song from his words. Over the following year, with the help of a few very talented friends, this song came into its final existence. I am so proud to have been a part of its creation - in all its soft and naked glory. May this beautiful little song bless you always with strength in times of difficulty and may you never walk alone” ❤️

"Just over a year ago I woke in the middle of the night to hear a most beautiful and haunting voice singing away in my living room. When I spoke about it with my housemate in the kitchen the morning after, an unknown man (who I later learned to be Harry Keyworth) emerged from the bedroom net door and apologized for waking us. I told him that it was in fact really quite wonderful and that Inwould love to work on some music with him if he had some time. I asked him what he was doijg that very instant and if he’d like to come downstairs to our studio and see what we could come up with in a couple of hours. This is the song that appeared from the ether.

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for me musically. I feel like over the past year I’ve died and been reborn too many times to count - finding and losing my way time and time again. Plans have fallen through, emotions have run high and my goal posts been planted, dug up and replanted on so many occasions that the playing field was starting to look like the scene of trench warfare.

For years, I’ve wanted to transition into a more live realm of music but couldn’t quite work out how to bridge the gap between the more electronic sounds I was releasing and the more organic and performable sounds that I wished to be able to offer to the world.

‘Show Me’ is the first track in a new direction; the marriage of what I’ve been known for in the past with a less strictly underground approach to music making. Through more collaborations and wild experimentation, I hope to create music that speaks to the hearts of a larger audience of people. Gone are the self inflicted boundaries I placed upon myself of being just a “house producer.” I am an artist and you can bet your ass that I’m going to keep evolving until the day that I die.

With these new sounds I aim to move into the live performance world; a world where I can step out from behind the CDJs and be able to actually PLAY the music alongside other kickass musicians. I want to be able to step off stage after a show, drenched in sweat, feeling like I’ve TRULY poured my heart and soul into each performance. I want to break guitar strings, lose my voice and hear the crowd sing along with us.

“Having flown all round the globe on British Airways since I was a little boy, it means the world to me that for the month of November you can listen to an exclusive 3 hour showcase of my label GLITTER COWBOY on all flights worldwide. Two hours of the mix are purely my original music followed by an hour of tracks I felt would go well with zipping through the sky at 35,000 ft. BA carry a crazy 4,350,000 people each month and I just love imagining all of the unique stories surrounding each passengers reason for travel. Some people are off on an adventure, others on their way home from one. Some people chose the chicken, others the beef. Some people will sleep the whole way, others (if they’re like me) will spend the whole trip fidgeting, trying to find a position that doesn’t absolutely knacker their necks. Anyways, I just LOVE this and hope that however many of those passengers that find my mix might find some inspiration and magic in the music as they hurtle across the globe above the cloud line. Glitter Cowboy welcomes Altriparty & Hypsidia to the label with their eccentric and exploratory EP 'The River'.

‘Mama’ sets a stunning mood with temple gongs and finger cymbals permeating a thick moving mass of blues infused jazz flutes. Infectiously groovy, masterfully crafted, it’s honest creativity in the form of dance music that feels as live as if it were being performed right in front of you.

‘Ego’ is characterised by their unique vocal sound and tender, melancholic soundscapes. It’s a slow burning, silky pop track sent back in time from the near distant future. It’s music to ponder, if only for the briefest of seconds, what could have been.
