Meet the Team!

Deborah D. Denzel has extensive experience and a unique perspective of the child welfare system. She spent fourteen years in the Connecticut #fostercare system and aged out after graduating from Bennett College in North Carolina. She’s conducted multiple child welfare research studies at University of Massachusetts and University of Michigan. She received her Master of Social Work from University of Michigan with a focus on child welfare.

Deborah has experience as a foster care worker, foster parent recruiter and trainer and program manager. She’s trained thousands of prospective foster and adoptive parents throughout the state of Michigan based on evidence based practices and personal experiences.

Deborah's currently the Business Development Manager at Fostering Media Connections. She’s also the Research Lead on a child welfare-related exploratory research study at Think of Us. In Deborah’s spare time, she mentors a former foster youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters. She also enjoys crossfit, cooking new paleo-friendly meals, hiking, going on new adventures and traveling. She recently completed a one and a half year journey visiting all 50 states by her 30th birthday! Deborah is excited to bring her wealth of knowledge, passion and experiences to the team and organization.
